Old technology and thinking of how life was before the Internet usually makes me feel that way. It surprises me sometimes how far we’ve come.

1·1 year agoI have the same fear. There is some momentum on moving away from traditional profit-oriented outrage-dependent social media and moving to decentralized technology.
The movement needs succeed to some extent and that traffic needs to move to Mastodon, Lemmy, etc. And for that to happen, Twitter and Reddit (add Facebook for good measure) need to cause a significant exodus to other platforms.
I just hope it isn’t another Whatsapp -> Signal migration which failed to cause a significant shift in the end.

I’m excited, but at the same time worried about the technical side of things. How the load can/will be managed, what can we do to help, etc.

14·1 year agoIt’s such a relief man. Visiting reddit after this actually makes you realize how bad things have gotten, on not just reddit, but rest of the internet. So much rage, hate and negativity. This place feels… normal. Reminds me of simpler times.
13·1 year agoHaha same! I’ve already commented here more than what I have on reddit in the past 5 years at least. And I’m not even forcing myself to comment. It just feels authentic. I feel that my voice won’t be lost in the void of the internet. I agree with @Disgusted_Tadpole. Last time I had this feeling was on orkut back in the 2000s. Exciting times! :)

I’m using Jerboa and I like it so far. Also, the Lemmy web UI is pretty responsive too. Feels like a native “app” if you will.
