I usually upgrade Ubuntu by first moving all my stuff to home/username which is mounted from a disk different than the OS disk. It would be lovely to have a solid online storage that was Linux compatible. Google is not it. It will just literally be 1T full of more email ads.

    There is many options to achieve what you want without the boondoggle that is Filecoin. It just wont come for “free” as in the case of Google.

    As for AMD joining the pack… they probably hope to ride on another GPU miner bonanza like situation with the crazy hardware requirements of Filecoin. Don’t be fooled by Filecoin’s “much better than Bitcoin” sales pitch, it is still extremely wasteful technology. It just wastes less energy in running it but requires massive amounts of energy intensive to produce hardware that serves little other purpose.
