Horseshoe theory is bullshit that ideologically deficient people made up to make themselves look good while lumping leftist reform advocates in with fascists.
No. There being similarities doesn’t mean that they’re identical. For example, fascism is ultra-capitalist and against social safety nets, whereas communism is anti-capitalist and very much in favor of social safety nets.
To think them identical requires a child-level understanding of political ideologies, something that’s unfortunately very common amongst liberals and centrists.
“The same place” is very much a way of saying identical when it comes to political ideology. Nice try using semantics to pretend your claim isn’t moronic oversimplification mixed with ignorance, but it didn’t work.
It wierdly is. Maybe because each side is demonising some group of people, so the end result is a powerful entity exterminating the group they see as bad. For the right it’s nationality and race, for the left it’s wealth and subservience.
Capitalism makes the 99% subservient to the 1%, and socialists want to end that. I’ll tell you what the right’s racism & jingoism is: it’s wealthy people convincing non-wealthy white people to blame nonwhite people & foreigners for their problems, instead of correctly blaming the wealthy ruling elite themselves.
I would argue that socialism is not the far left that causes problems. In communism, ie the far left, it’s the same as the far right; powerful and/or wealthy people oppressing the masses.
politic extremism is a horseshoe

I’m neither lol. Both are crappy authoritarian ideologies with a fondness for state violence.
I’m more somewhere between an anti-capitalist pacifist social democrat and an anarchist, depending on the issue.
… so like a horseshoe shape where the more extreme ends seem to trend back to the same place?

Who said they were identical?

seem to trend back to the same place.
You seem to be getting mad and not reading properly.
I see you went to the Ben Shapiro school of argumentation.
Horseshoe theory is horseshit.

Those are the kinds of beliefs that false consciousness tends to produce.

I was taught that in high school. Turns out, it’s just not true.
