minus-squareShunkW@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up38·1 year agoTom Scott does great stuff, and I found him through Computerphile years ago. If you like board games, check out No Rolls Barred. Veritasium and Smarter Every Day are good educational channels about science. Nile Red too. I can give more if any of these are hitting for you.
minus-squareukcreation@feddit.uklinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up7·1 year agoAm I right in thinking Tom Scott is quitting / taking a break soon? I’m sure I saw something along those lines.
minus-squarenexas_XIII@lemm.eelinkfedilinkarrow-up3arrow-down1·1 year agoYeah, end of the year. Link to a lemmy world post
minus-squareojmcelderry@lemmy.onelinkfedilinkarrow-up8arrow-down2·1 year agoDoes anybody else find Tom Scott annoying? I love channels that deep-dive into the details of things, etc. But I’ve always found Tom to be so smug and patronising. Is it just me?
minus-square∟⊔⊤∦∣≶@lemmy.nzlinkfedilinkarrow-up13·1 year agoI don’t at all. He’s like a little kid when he gets to watch the maglev train in Japan
minus-squareEvkob@lemmy.calinkfedilinkarrow-up7·1 year agoHe’s just very British, I think. IIRC, he also plays a bit of a character inspired by BBC reporters of his youth on camera. If you listen to him in a context other than his main channel (I love his Lateral podcast) he doesn’t come off as smug at all really.
minus-squareBig P@feddit.uklinkfedilinkarrow-up5·1 year agoHe’s definitely a bit of a dork but it’s not annoying
minus-squaretwistedtxb@lemmy.calinkfedilinkarrow-up3·1 year agoI couldn’t stand his Tesla/SpaceX obsession but for the past few months he seems to have let go of it
minus-squareRook@pawb.sociallinkfedilinkarrow-up4·1 year agoDefinite +1 for No Rolls Barred. I recently discovered them through their Communist Monopoly House Rules episode. It’s been a long time since I’ve laughed that much at a video.
