Back in the day I used to really like browsing soundcloud, listening to mashups, indie artists, and whatnot. Eventually soundcloud got too big and took down a lot of content (probably due to copyright) and introduced paid “pro” accounts. Is there a place like the early soundcloud on the fediverse?

Nice. Maybe I’ll post some of my stuff there so I can have a third place where nobody listens to my music lmao.

I guess stoner metal (but also occasionally folk metal-ish), but the biggest influences on what I write are the Sword, Mastodon, Sleep, and Black Sabbath. But also sometimes I might make drum n bass or a trap beat, but I don’t usually upload those lol

Right on, I’ve found my people haha. I have some of my music on youtube (same name as here). I have more on SoundCloud (also same name as here), but those are generally first pass mixes and don’t sound as good imo. Check it out if you get a chance, I’d love to get some fresh ears on it.

Funkwhale is interesting, but feels more like a plex/subsonic/jellyfin server than a social media place. I can’t follow artists on Funkwhale and listen to their latest posts. There isn’t a “feed” anywhere, it’s more like a giant shared-music server (unless I’m missing something).
