Apologies if this isn’t the right community for this, seems to be most likely place on Lemmy that I’ll find an answer. I’m considering picking up either an 8Bitdo Pro 2 or Ultimate Controller. Do either of these have haptics in the triggers, like the new Xbox controllers do? My Xbox controller has some wear and if an 8Bitdo controller has the same rumble features I’ll happily switch over. Thanks!

I would only ever use it on PC so that’s perfect for me, thanks!

There is no haptics, just normal rumble. I also dont remember the xbox controllers having those either, I thought that was exclusive to ps5, then something new came out?

For my quick review of the pro 2:

Best dpad on a modern controller so far, but I still think it needs improving. (Still good for platformers tho)

Build quality is good overall with the grips feeling great.

Joysticks work good, but the small travel make them not ideal for fps precision games like halo.

Bluetooth input lag is not good, its bad enough that I exclusively use it wired. (I am very sensitive to input lag tho)

The cable that comes with it is not great and I had to replace it after about a year. (Any cable will work basically)

Overall I enjoy using it alot and often prefer it over the switch pro controller. Must have for retro gamers, but if you dont need a good dpad, then I would probably stick to the more traditional controllers.

The Series controllers have trigger rumble, it’s basic compared to the PS5 controller but it’s still a nice feature. I would be using it entirely at my desk, so wired is good with me. Thanks for the review!

I’ve got the Pro 2, no haptics on the trigger but very good rumble, works both in windows, and Linux. I personally use the Switch mode, because it has gyro support, but the “xinput” mode works beautifully. It even has back paddles!

Be careful with the pro 2. The Bluetooth has some noticeable lag to it. I’d pick one with a 2.4ghz dongle or wired connection.
