Man, what a bad year for us. Look at all these setbacks the global communist movement faced and didn’t overcome:

  • The Chinese spy balloon incident. We hoped the presidency and the Pentagon would make utter fools of themselves by shooting down children’s kites and talking about alien invaders. Didn’t happen: Biden’s measured and appropriate response won him the admiration of the entire world, and put to rest any lingering doubts about his fitness for office.

  • US sanctions absolutely destroying China’s semiconductor industry. We thought that one of the world’s richest countries, with the biggest real economy and most advanced industrial base on earth, would find a way to make needed chips on their own. Nope: cheap commie manufacturing got exposed once again as unable to adapt to the computer age, and the Chinese had to come begging to Washington to get the sanctions lifted. Just like Reagan predicted.

  • The US economy and the USD were both stronger than ever, with de-dollarization basically a nonstarter. (This after the US did NOT experience a recession in 2022, and after American economists absolutely did NOT redefine the very meaning of the word in order to hide how badly the economy was doing). We hoped Russia and China announce a raft of trade agreements, including trade in yuan; none of that came to fruition, and we might as well accept that Bretton Woods is going to be with us forever.

  • Russian retreat from Bakhmut, a city which had not strategic value to begin with. Russia said it was the key to the Donbas, and as good Z bots we have to keep parroting that line, but we all know the city was only attacked to stroke Putin’s ego. Avdiivka is NOT, I repeat NOT, in danger from Russian forces.

  • But the biggest humiliation we faced: the Ukrainian counteroffensive, which people are STILL talking about, which ISN’T being quietly swept under the rug, and which all freedom-loving people (not Tankies) will CONTINUE to talk about until the end of time. We thought the Ukrainian army would stall at the skirmish line, unable to advance because of extensive mining and massive Russian firepower; instead, we had to gnash our teeth in rage as those rag-tag Ukrainian heroes, armed with advanced American and EU weaponry, broke through Russian lines and liberated Crimea. Guess those Patriot missiles really are invincible.

So there it is, a really crappy year for anti-imperialism. Let’s hope 2024 can be better.

It really sucks being a tankie and having every single prediction we make turn out to be wrong. I just don’t know why anything happens.

I’d be so much happier if we were wrong.

Like yeah sure there’s a toxic part of me that gets some kind of boost from being ontologically correct but it’s like “ha I was right. Oh fuck…”

It was an unironically horrible year for a tankie, stuck in Ukraine, while my SO is right over the eastern border. I’m so tired… It’s hard to imagine normal life now.

Thank you, comrade… I’m just really hoping that the war will end soon, and I’ll be able to move away. I hate this place with a passion.

Is it difficult to get out now and claim asylum somewhere? There’s a lot of Ukrainians around Europe now.

You can’t get out legally if you’re an adult male. You’d have to pay an exorbitant amount of money to get smuggled through the border, and it’s still very risky.

Usually it involves a long journey through the wilderness with non-zero chance of being lost, starved, frostbitten (at the colder times of year) having dangerous encounters with wildlife and even more dangerous ones with the customs.

Sorry to hear that, comrade. Puts my shitposting here in perspective. Hope all is well with you and the SO, and that you’re able to get to a safe place soon. This criminal western-backed war can’t end soon enough.

We’re physically well, but mentally exhausted. Both of us can’t wait for this war to be over.

Puts my shitposting here in perspective

Sometimes it’s easy to look at the world events and say “yeah, this is horrible, but in the end it’ll lead us to the better world”, and kinda forget about those swept up in these events. I do this too, because the only other option is a complete burnout.

This is a win for the commies. Biden let that spy balloon stay afloat for several days, more than enough time for the CCP to gather sensitive data. This is irrefutable proof that Biden and his democrat cabal are controlled by the Chinese. It’s only a matter of time before Texas gets hit by a judeo-Chinese space laser!

My doctor told me I’d be getting stomach pain from worrying too much about the failure of China’s high speed rail industry (and absolutely not from all the champagne I’ve been denying myself to bemoan the definitely continuing adventures of Henry Kissinger)

It sucks for sure. But if lib politicians like Biden and Baerbock can face up to uncomfortable facts, we Marxists can do it too.

And not to mention Ukronazis currently advacing rapidly on every single front, destroying any hopes of Russia capturing Marinka, keeping Bakhmut and Avdiivka while Russian military must run and build entire new defense lines in the middle of winter which is impossible and wasting tens of thousands of soldiers in failed offensive.

      Honestly from my review of the war it seems like Russia is winning pretty convincingly;

      • Ukraine only met 10% of its recruitment
      • US wants Zelensky to hold elections, the head of the Ukraine military and Zelensky have been butting heads over this and several high profile deepfakes and several murder attempts on the challenger, Zaluzhnyi and his family; Zelensky has been resisting holding an election
      • Front line has more or less frozen with small Russian gains over the last 12 months

I think surrender or peace will be on the cards over the winter.

Avdiivka is NOT, I repeat NOT, in danger from Russian forces.

      Also I disagree with this

      doesnt look stable to me
