      Preach

Found minimalism this year, it’s been a game changer for me. Have reduced my wardrobe by half, worked through all the misc pantry items I’ve been hoarding (or threw out shockingly expired canned goods…), have away stuff from my basement. Feels amazing, less clutter and more control.

So much stuff was “good to have” or “just in case” with a layer of dust on it. From a mental health perspective it’s been really nice to go through and keep up with.

The community on Lemmy seems less about minimalism for the sake of being minimal and more about ethics, minimal pedantry (“should we stop taking pictures because they create clutter?”), and being cheap/frugal.

Did you have a different community or resource in mind? I’m interested, but only with respect to my stuff, and in a more “buy it for life” way.

Unfortunately, I don’t think Lemmy is large enough to support multiple minimalism communities which specialize in different areas.

But I agree with you: minimalism doesn’t have to be for cheap/frugal/ethics/etc. I (like you) also aim to have fewer high quality items, than a many disposable ones. And the mental bandwidth I gain from maintaining fewer things is very refreshing!
