Most of the communities are on one instance i.e .ml. Should we spin up more instances and start spreading communities either by location, interests, etc? Maybe, I am wrong but do mod/s who run the communities understand the idea of “decentralized social networks” or this is just to get few brownie points to start the community and increase the traffic? Please correct me if I am wrong.

No offence, just an observation.

This thread is coming from Lemmy.ml as you can see from the @ sign.

If you click all you will get some federated content. Local is all without other instances

Btw the anser to your original question… the key to growth is allowing all opinions to free flow, good and bad, its the only real way to discussion and truth that is interesting and uncensored, also grow communities by constantly posting…. Ppl want new material, interesting material …… also reply to comments and joke around alot, try not to be so serious but get serious and stick to your beliefs when challenged on them however keep an open mind to things you haven’t considered… also when making claims in posts, a quick fact check goes a long way

Kind of disagree with this. Its an effective approach for one target audience, but wont work at all for other audiences. The cool thing is that thanks to federation, there can be many instances with completely different approaches (like lemmy.ml vs wolfballs.com), each with a completely different approach. In the end, all of us will benefit from a more active network.

Go to wolfballs.com we are a variation of lemmy that truth be told is not as leftist or liberal as lemmy, we are libertarian, alt right conservative. Im an admin and I proudly say i allow anything for the most part… however if you are a staunch liberal or lefty and more concerned with finding like minded ppl in an echo chamber than lemmy is for you. When you are on wolfballs… two rooms may interest you along with normie material rooms… freeforum is my room, i allow anyone to say anything (I openly admit its most conservative material on that room the rule of free speech remains) … also, demslibsleft is a room i opened for the left to do and say as they please in a sort of safe space however im just a moderator but i don’t moderate as im a conservative and just keep that room out of courtesy for liberals… long story short check us out. And pleasure speaking with you. Btw feel free to start your own community if you have cool ideas or dm me on wolfballs if you want to moderate a room i host other than freeforum as I currently host way too many rooms
