Vaush is the trans community’s greatest debate and rhetoric developer.
Against my best interests, I’ll expose you to the online leftist gay community being as Vaush says, cancerous as fuck:
Transmedicalists
Tenderqueers
LGB not the T advocates
While you and I don’t run into these people, they would be instantly banned in this space, Vaush spends far too much time on Twitter. And this is in like 2015 or something? Our community used to take a lot more L’s in the online culture war.
If he’s our best debate and rhetoric developer then we’re absolutely fucked. We don’t need edgy phobic cunts pretending to give a shit about us, he thinks we’re subhuman and we shouldn’t be supporting him
And no he’s not talking about those groups, he’s talking about queer people in general. Fuck off trying to downplay his hateful shit
No need to play it up, it’s fucking vile and if you don’t see it you should get the fuck out of queer spaces. It would be better if he ever acknowledged his shit takes, but he always doubles down, and then later hopes people just forget or tries to act like he meant something different
It would be better if he ever acknowledged his shit takes
Vaush constantly goes over his shit takes. Literally I’ve watched him break this clip down live on stream more than 5 times. And all of the other clips, too. After explaining what he meant, he often does double down. He aims to become more rhetorically effective, without ever compromising his moral consistency.
No, the source is a fucking livestream. His VODs are on youtube, and you can search like “vaush reviews clip from 2015” “vaush reviews thoughtslime clip” and probably find some of his explanations. But no Im not here to make you a vaush viewer, Im talking in this thread so that vaush’s bullshit doesnt reflect too poorly on his community members that make this instance home.
Yeah I think this probably the best one. He actually recently re-reviewed this segment but I don’t think much was learned from it. Btw, I was there when he said the N word. He used it on a far right stream, and basically they wouldn’t say it, and then admitted to using it at home in private all the time. It made them look like complete pussies in front of their ravenously racist audience. I was in that far right audience, and that was the turning point for me getting off the alt-right pipeline.
At least in the clip, from what I gathered it doesn’t seem like he is talking about queer people in general, but the people who are part of popular online queer discourse. Like he qualifies who he’s talking about in the first opening seconds and it’s not “all queer people in general” and I think it’s uncharitable to make that claim. I also am not going to defend any of the language he uses but that is a separate matter from your second point.
Like idk he’s extremely vitriolic but from what I’ve found it’s always about people with ideas he disagrees with, not over a person’s identity in and of itself. Except bottoms, he really hates bottoms as an ongoing bit that gets really grating at times.
Oh I see, he doesn’t hate queer people just online queer people! That’s just the phobic equivalent of qualifying a sexist statement by saying it’s about white women (speaking of which he’s also wildly sexist)
Can you actually define tenderqueer or is that just some signifier like woke and sjw? These are terms that have very little real meaning and just get thrown around to dismiss people for being loud. Vaush has said many transphobic things over the years and always just doubles down afterwards instead of actually listening to trans people. It would be different if he didn’t have tweets about how his trans friends get too mad over being misgendered over text, but he does. If that’s all that is required for vaush to consider you a tenderqueer, then its a signifier for queer people vaush doesn’t like to dismiss their feelings while claiming to be an ally of trans people. It’s the same type of toxic ranting right wingers do on trans people and SJWs, except they don’t lie about it.
Look, I’ve already been through my debate bro phase, I was even in debate in high school during it. Going into the conversation with the goal to be right isn’t constructive, especially when you don’t have any specific advocacies besides for just your beliefs. Dunks/owns are performative more than anything, they’re a display of superiority over the stupid opponent. It doesn’t advance anybody’s thinking, it is inherently stagnant because both people have advocacies to defend and will not give them up. This works well with strong original thinkers like Zizek and Peterson (don’t like Peterson, not saying his thoughts are any good but he’s definitely a thinker) but a debate is only as valuable as the actual thinkers themselves. Vaush doesn’t really change his worldview unless he’s just reacting to the world around him, he isn’t a right winger, but he is a reactionary. Vaush might shift people a little to the left and that’s kinda cool, but he doesn’t challenge them to actually think about their beliefs. It’s just giving them a more palatable set of paint.
Vaush is not a voice for trans rhetoric. Even if he wasn’t talking about trans people in this clip, calling people subhuman is inherently problematic Dehumanization is the base of bigotry..
Tenderqueer is like this terminally online twitter term. Keffals has some videos going deep into it. They owned the term, by the way. Its not like, a bash against their community afaik. Vaush has agreed with pretty much everything else you said. But no he is amazing at crafting rhetoric to help trans people argue for their rights more effectively.
It’s so cruel, and I honestly think bashing tenderqueers should be grounds for an instance ban. Being the trans safe space instance and all, I care far more about the tenderqueers than the debate bros who like the memes.
Im only defending vaush because I know one of his communities being in this instance and me joining with the 30 other people there will reflect on me. I dont really care about twitter drama and I will not go and defend any of vaush’s takes. I just wanna let you know, hey, I’m a vaush community member, we’re actually mostly made up of trans people who want to laugh. But way to make it personally about me and advocate for me being banned because I tried to engage with this post.
Oh you didn’t bash tenderqueers. I’m saying that the Keffals “make fake picrews” shit she did should be grounds for bans yk? Tenderqueer is a claimed term, using the term is fine. But we really shouldn’t have a space for the type of shit Keffals was calling for in an instance like this. I’m not going to be positive about trans people being attacked as a demographic on the trans safe space. There’s no room for that trolling here. If you think you’re bashing tenderqueers, maybe you should take a step back and think about why you felt that statement applied to you. I’m not saying I even like the people that claim to be tenderqueer, but the fact is I have no reason to speak or punch down to them.
we really shouldn’t have a space for the type of shit Keffals was calling for in an instance like this.
Oh, no, fully agreed.
There’s no room for that trolling here.
Yeah. We’ve seen enough out of control trolling already (beehaw defederation). The rules on Blahaj Zone are strict and I agree that’s in line with what we need as a community.
using the term is fine.
I thought I was being personally called out for using it, I am so relieved.
Not only is he not a piece of shit, he’s the reason I’m here.

… fuck off trying to play up a shitty misunderstood take from last decade.

Ah yes, the moral consistency of saying you support trans rights while calling trans people subhuman
Source?
So there is no source then? You just blatantly lied about that?

Yea tenderqueer isn’t a thing, it’s just a way for reactionary “leftists” to be transphobic towards people who they don’t think are valid
It’s so cruel, and I honestly think bashing tenderqueers should be grounds for an instance ban. Being the trans safe space instance and all, I care far more about the tenderqueers than the debate bros who like the memes.
