It’s the photo of a politician, which is against the rules that make this community pleasant for everyone else. You can find the guidelines of this community in the sidebar
This post goes against the community guidelines, please remove it
Edit: you can disagree, but it still goes against rule 2 of this community and I’m so sick of having political photos everywhere. There are tons of political communities already, go post there please
What about all the other comments in this post that keep pointing out that the author of the comic is a Nazi? You really seem not to care about that detail
I’m not so sure. That smells a bit of entitlement if I’m being honest. If an unhoused person or a single parent in a food insecure household get food assistance/school meals for example, I’m sure the help meant a lot to them. It doesn’t seem like it means anything to you because you have the luxury/security to worry about ethics and other more abstract things. But if you’re hungry, food is food. Help is help. And if you were forced to give the food…those people still get to eat at the end of it all
Thanks so much for the link!
Time to migrate my account then ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Is Lemmy.world not going to defederate from Threads? Did I miss something?
They really didn’t even try that to be honest. Bethesda has remained far behind and they don’t seem interested in changing direction sadly
I just found this yesterday so I cannot properly give a review on it, but I found Logseq which seems to be a privacy-focused knowledge management and collaboration platform. It seems very promising and reminds me somewhat of Obsidian
I personally use Thunder and I love it. I tried all other apps too but they never quite clicked completely with me. Have a good search!
Welcome then! If you are still looking for a decent app for random scrolling on Lemmy go here and take your pick. We are truly blessed
Clearly an excellent boy, 12/10 for sure. Thanks for sharing and a virtual hug to you, I’m sorry for your loss
“I don’t know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.”
I also often question whether the thing I’d like to post needs to be posted (and in the process, I talk myself out of it)
What an interesting project! Can’t wait to look at its results as soon as they become publicly available then
Lmao serious ‘fuck you’ energy.
Out of curiosity I went to the project’s page and saw more info on why they don’t take donations:
Free. Open-source. For users by users. No donations sought. If you ever want to contribute something, think about the people working hard to maintain the filter lists you are using, which are available to use by all for free.
I’d like to add to the sentiment of this post by saying that if you ever used any of those amazing websites, I’m sure the developers will highly appreciate it if those with the means could consider contributing to their projects.
We all know how greedy and shameless YouTube can be, and yet those developers give us incredible products for free. And if you ever saw the entitled requests of some users on their projects’ pages whenever YouTube implements some changes, and they have to rush to fix their code, I’m sure you would appreciate them even more. I’ve personally seen quite a few projects being abandoned because of the sometimes thankless job of being a developer, and I would hate it for any of these to suffer a similar fate.
So if you can and are willing, feel free to join me in contributing to:
Thank you for the correction! I actually never looked much into it, so it was surprising to see how many misconceptions there are about China’s social credit system. Having said that, after looking more into it, saying it was never put into place wouldn’t be entirely correct either, apparently. Some people have been comparing it to the credit score system in the US and it seems quite apt from what I read. It is there, it simply isn’t a centralized system or an all-encompassing entity.
Thank you all for your hard work and for your update!
I checked the change log but I didn’t see anything about it, so I’ll ask here (and if it’s preferred I’ll also ask on GitHub): are there any plans for eventually enabling the search option to search for comments and/or posts too by any chance?
Aren’t 70+ years enough time though? Those people are done. You can’t ask them to swallow bitter pills for that long of a time while also telling them to shut up because “you are enabling the enemy”. They have valid criticisms that some key people from the Democratic side are far too happy to ignore. Honest question…how do you compromise with an ongoing genocide in an apartheid state?
