Easy, kings side bishop red carpet promenade
Suspiciously timed post, right after they announced a release date for GTA 6.
No need to be scared. It’s a loving relationship.
What is the easiest way to look that information up?
I heard a hypothesis that the first human made consciousness will be an AI algorithm designed to monitor and coordinate other AI algorithms which makes a lot of sense to me.
Our consciousness is just the monitoring system of all our bodies subsystems. It is most certainly an emergent phenomenon of the interaction and management of different functions competing or coordinating for resources within the body.
To me it seems very likely that the first human made consciousness will not be designed to be conscious. It also seems likely that we won’t be aware of the first consciousnesses because we won’t be looking for it. Consciousness won’t be the goal of the development that makes it possible.
Nonono, you see it has factory in the name so it’s different.
Love how nuclear is a great base load source of energy for day to day fluctuations, but also when viewed from a timeline of decades. Good ol reliable nuclear.
Great point! He said “solar energy” which would be watthours. If he said “solar power” he could have used watts.
Probably the least nonsense part of his statement (imo) and not the part worth an argument.
I agree with you, but I don’t think it means we stop the pursuit. It won’t be viable or cheap enough in time to help in the transition off fossil fuels. If it does pay off the way some people think it may be a viable energy source for carbon sequestration to undo some of our stupidity though. I think it’s worth that moonshot.
I like this concept. I do think it would generally slow resource extraction because companies would be more wary to invest in the large infrastructure if they don’t have perpetual ownership of the land. I don’t think this is necessarily a bad thing, just an outcome I think is likely.
I think these are reasonable suggestions to make society more equitable. Do you disagree with any of them? Or just don’t like them because they modify the existing system instead of tearing it all down?
This is a great write up. I think the problem with economic theory discussions is it is an extremely complex and nuanced topic. Saying ‘capitalism bad’ is popular, but not very constructive.
I think one big point that gets bungled in these economic debates is markets. That’s supposed to be the shining light of capitalism because of how efficient markets are at allocating scarce resources. The point that I think is missed, is that markets can be used very effectively outside of a capitalist system. They need to be designed for other economic systems, but they can easily handle the biggest argument with socialism; centralized control.
I feel that is a major point missing in these debates and I just wanted to give it some attention.
Jeez, right in the *********? Brutal.
On Thunder, no complaints. The only other one I’ve used is liftoff so I can’t give you a good comparison. All I can say is Thunder checks all the boxes I’m looking for.
It was great. I moved to Thunder though and actually like it a bit more.
Liftoff didn’t keep track of (or at least indicate) opened posts which irked me. Thunder has that with the same general scrolling feel.
I hate tipping in general, but I understand some people like to show their appreciation for a service done well. If that’s the case, tip the repair person doing the labor, not the landlord!
Just in general, let’s stop tipping like the people doing a job need my generosity to survive. Pay the people what the job is worth and stop asking me to make up the difference.
The Christian Old Testament and the Jewish Tenakh are basically the same book. “Useful Charts” has a great 7 part series about who wrote the Bible that I found fascinating as a non-believer. The book has so much influence over today’s society that I think it’s good to understand more about it even if isn’t spiritually significant to you.
Thank you for the context. I feel like you could find similar sentiments today over less severe harms.
Honestly, that type of retaliation is happening right now by the descendants of those that wrote the Psalm. Goes to show we really haven’t progressed much in how we treat each other in 3000 years.
It would be so awesome if they went employee owned. I get the impression the employees are people who are passionate about video games. I feel that they would choose leadership that is both good for the community and good for the long-term health of the company.
