Everything is permitted on a pizza. Not even bri’ish but work at a fancy pizza place and have done Beans on Toast pizza and it went over pretty well. White beans, tomato sauce, parm, basil, sprinkled with oregano and drizzled with a very oiled down to make it super super mild and spiced molasses. It went over big even though tbh we were having a contest to see where we’d rotate who make up.the special and the person who tells them what different meal to make a pizza out of. Sometimes it was a goofy challenge other times it turned out to just be a good idea, falafel thin crust pizza slaps, hummus base, falafel balls or crumble, roasted red pepper and pickled red onion, spoon on tabouli after the oven, mind blowing food. We also did a Thai style green curry one that was also really amazing. Anything that has a sauce and a carb can become a good pizza if you put your mind to it and have an industrial kitchen at your disposal. Ooh! This winter I did a garlic oil base, boccocini chunks, this super cinnamon nutmegged date/fig jam I made, roasted garlic and arugula post oven, it tasted like visting grandma for Christmas.

  • Using the Original Series episodes for this examination is a bit unfair. That show was on a shoestring budget and they were making up the world building as they went along. Thr futuristic post scarcity utopia thing came more with TNG. In the time between TOS and TNG, Roddenberry wasn’t getting much TV work and did the convention circuit a lot where he was worshipped a bit too much and too often by fans and was also a beatnik sex guy who was drinking and doing pills a lot and started believing his own hype. Star Trek always presented a better future and something to strive towards but in TOS the society and economic model was shown to still be pretty similar to 1966 America (tos had currency, it gets mentioned often), but it the time between with Roddenberry’s ego getting pumped and him attending Q&A sessions where he’d just make shit up about the world building. By the time TNG came around he had all these half baked utopian ideas going around his drug addled brain and was given wayyyy too much creative control at the start of tng and took things too far in many places like arguing that a child wouldn’t morn his dead parents cause they were too enlightened for that now. After he died things got rolled back by about a third to a semi reasonable but poorly thought out utopia.

  • Remember how America didn’t blame all of Islam whole cloth after 9/11 and didn’t even declare war on 2 countries that had nothing to do with it but shares a majority religion with the perpetrators? Why aren’t they seeing the same distinction that we did when attacked by religious extremists not lump them in with the majority of the followers who are decent enough people? 9/11 was an ongoing genocide where this was an isolated attack. Surely they can reason past this hateful generilzation given enough time after to consider the facts. 9/11 has been affecting Americans since the late 40s and we can tell friend from foe. How come ar this point, over 20 years after Palestine was annexed are they still drone striking the Jewish world and just a couple years ago finally pulled out of Larry David’s house after a 20 year occupation?

  • The original series is very 1960s and I wouldn’t recommend for a jumping in point. I’d go with next Gen for that, it’s the quintessential trek more so than the original having had 3 spinoffs in the 90s and defining most of the canon. Here’s the issue though, the first 2 seasons of tng really suck. Like maybe the worst 2 seasons of the whole franchise. I’d check out some best of lists for those seasons and maybe sprinkle a couple random ones in, they did 26 hour long episodes per season and there are some amazing clunkers there, bad episodes are part of trek and you’ve gotta learn to enjoy them, but those first 2 seasons are rough.
