I agree with you on the water front, I mean there are meant to be ~1000 planets so at least a few of them have to be water planets, right?

Obviously they’re not going to let you land in the sea, but it’d be nice to see some large bodies of water on at least the goldilocks planets. We did see in the Direct some NPCs lounging on a beach, so I guess there will be at least some shoreline.

Honestly, I just hope there’s more to the planets in general and that there’s enough handcrafted stuff (or procedural but interesting POIs) that we’ve just not seen. The optimist in me hopes that they haven’t shown a lot because they want people to find it themselves (they, and anyone who’s managed to get their hands on it to preview it, keep saying it’s a massive game so fingers crossed this is the case).

I believe the thinking behind the very early preload is so that the download servers aren’t overwhelmed by the sheer number of people trying to download the game at the same time on release day. By having the preload over a few weeks it allows for a more spaced out period of time where people are downloading it, meaning less load on the servers.

I think you mean the swastika emblem on the Eagle on the Nuremburg stadium that the US blew up, but yes, I thought that too.

This is my thinking too. On a planet? Medium-long range. In a building or on a ship? SMG, pistols, shotguns. But, if it feels more fun to use a certain weapon regardless of the environment then I’ll just do what seems the most entertaining.

Also we’re forgetting about the space magic stuff that was shown in the Direct. Maybe a build for throwing people into the air and the picking them off like a duck shoot?

That’s just one from this thread. In other news threads the top two comments were people saying “good riddance” or something similar. I’d screenshot those for you as well but I now can’t find the threads in my feed because the feed updated and they got pushed down to god knows where.

I agree, a lot of people in threads in the fediverse are taking way too much pleasure in 5 people dying. I get not being a fan of billionaires - no one should be - but not everyone aboard was a billionaire, and even if they were it’s just so incredibly callous to take joy in people dying in an accident. Have a base level of empathy for crying out loud.

Part of the reason I loved moving to Lemmy from reddit was getting away from reddit’s toxicity, I hope we don’t bring it with us.

Yeah after seeing that interview he said they helped with gunplay for F4, but for Starfield they actually helped with graphics

There were a few things in the Direct that really got me hyped, but to name a few:

• The gunplay looked like it has taken huge strides since the first gameplay reveal (I read somewhere that they had help with this from the iD developers)
• When they showed VASCO saying the player’s name I was excited, although they didn’t go into this too much to say how it would work or if it’s going to be a pre-existing list of names. I don’t have a very common surname so if it’s some text-to-speech kind of thing, I might stand a chance and that’d be sick
• Although I usually spend way too much time in character creators, I’m not usually the type of person that spends ages customising vehicles or items in games, but the ship customisation really took me by surprise. I just kind of assumed there’d be a starting ship and you might be able to buy other pre-existing ships in the game, not that it’d be so granular/modular with so many options
