Trump is directly responsible for these excesses. In the press conference right after the conviction, he said:
This was a rigged trail by a conflicted judge who was corrupt. (…) This was done by the Biden administration in order to wound or hurt a political opponent.
These are, of course, allegations that have no basis in fact whatsoever. So I wonder: are there no legal means to prosecute Trump for these blatantly false allegations?
Shouldn’t the mere allegation that the judge was corrupt be enough to sue for defamation? I mean, it has to be enormously damaging to the judge’s reputation if someone makes such serious accusations against him.
Either the judiciary in my home country has watched 12 Monkeys too often, or it is not as independent of the industry as it pretends to be. Either way, this is completely absurd and a declaration of the bankruptcy of our legal system.
Fun fact: Monopoly originated from “The Landlord’s Game” created in 1903 by Elizabeth Magie, an anti-monopolist who designed it to illustrate the negative aspects of concentrating land ownership.
Some men are probably just not very religious or worship false deities.
That is of course absolutely true. But fossil fuels are still a tool of power that is used for political purposes. Of course, this also applies to the metals needed for batteries, for example. However, access to this is not so promising in terms of power, because on the one hand, as you say, you can also live and produce “according to the times of day”. On the other hand, there are untapped reserves of these raw materials - such as cobalt and manganese - in the deep sea, i.e. international waters. In short, I do think that some players have an interest in boycotting solar energy and other renewable energy sources in favor of fossil fuels in order to maintain their power base - Russia, for example.
Glad you like it. This style is pretty much cyberpunk. A sub-genere of science fiction that is quite popular since the late 70s.
Musk has already turned Twitter into Truth Social anyway. So no need.
I don’t think there’s much need to discuss the substance of this response, as it’s hardly anything but finger-pointing and fear-mongering. But I do find one thing quite telling: the fact that the GOP even made one of the few women in that party give her SOTU response from a kitchen.
Be that as it may. I simply think it is a mockery to provide a little humanitarian aid while at the same time supplying weapons to Israel and continually vetoing a UN resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire. This makes the US complicit in the genocide of the Palestinians imo. Pretending that this is not the case by delivering a few relief supplies to the dying people is nothing more than hypocrisy. I find that disgusting.
The hypocrisy is really hard to bear.
As I said, I’m from Germany. In this country, unfortunately, we know from painful experience how fascists take power. Please be smarter than the Germans in 1933 - the circumstances are shockingly similar to those back then; not only in America. The Nazis were able to seize power in the Weimar Republic because the economy, conservatives and other opportunists played along with their game. Perhaps they thought they would be able to put a stop to them later if things got too bad. This plan did not work out and millions fell victim to an inhuman idology. I simply mean, take the opportunity to defend what is left of your democracy - if necessary, even together with those who are seemingly in the wrong camp. It is perhaps the last chance before you are no longer allowed to express your opinion freely.
That’s clear. But it doesn’t help much, does it? I don’t think you have to be a prophet of doom to foresee that another Trump presidency would very likely have catastrophic consequences for America and subsequently for the whole “democratic world”. I just think that you obviously can’t rely on your institutions. I’m just an observer without much interest in US politics. But even I can see from the news about your constitutional court, for example, that a lot of things are seriously wrong here. Nevertheless, I don’t have the impression that US civil society has too many objections. That surprises me, given that so much is at stake. Maybe I’m not well informed, but that’s how it seems to me anyway. I just think that the time for cynicism is over and it’s high time to actually do something about all this.
Yes, these tricks are old and familiar. Nevertheless, US (right wing) politics seems to be adopting a lot of the workings of cults these days. I’m just surprised that US civil society is allowing this to happen. I’m from Germany and here, too, there are openly fascist parties that are gaining strength again and using the same ol’ strategies. But we don’t just put up with it, we take to the streets. Why are there no massive protests in the USA against Trump, against his fascist ideas and the fact that he is still at large after an anti-democratic coup attempt and countless criminal activities? He is even a presidential candidate. You can’t be serious.
I can no longer tell the difference between the US Republicans and a doomsday cult.
Well, somehow he is right: all over the world, the excessive greed of these scoundrels has been allowed to continue for far too long.
I thought he might even read that stuff, simply because he kept boxes full of confidential documents in his bathroom. But reading your comment, it seems even more pathetic than I thought. Well, as a European, I can say that all this absurdity is no longer very funny to us either. After all, we are talking about the presidency of one of the most powerful countries in the world; one of our most important allies. You really should make some radical changes - otherwise you’ll plunge us all into disaster, im afraid. So please get your shit together for once.
…and his top secret toilet reading scattered all across the bathroom.
