Recently made the switch to Mint from Windows. I am having a problem with FF though. Randomly but very frequently I see your most basic page load very slow if not at all. I have disabled hardware acceleration as some research has suggested but it still has the same issue. This happens on both my laptop and desktop.
Two potential things:
- Hardware acceleration, try turning it of and or on again
- IFK why but xdg-desktop-portal-gnome cab cripple some programs like Firefox, remove it
I disabling cisco open h264 helps, and use local ffmpeg on firefox
xdg-desktop-portal-gnome
crippled my install as well - both Firefox and Steam took an absolute age to open. Uninstall it, everything perfect again.
Weird, I’ve never had an issue like this (using mint as well). You sure it’s just Firefox? It could be an internet issue causing stuff to load slowly.
- Can you give more information about your setup/system and firefox installation/version? ESR? Flatpak? DEB?
- Can you give any steps for others to reproduce/compare your issue?
A first good ideas is always to create a second seperate profile (for example via
about:profiles
) and see if your issue can be reproduced with a fresh one without any modifications. The result will give a solid hint if your problem is profile or browser/system related.
