Instead of conventional push, what about sending messages via multicast? Scalable to arbitrary numbers of peers.
Also, consider offline message sync.
Do you mean that we could use IPv6/4 multicast to send packets through multiple peers at once incase one of them is unreliable?
I’m not so familiar with multicast in practice but some time ago i found this conference very enlightening :)
