No thank you we don’t need that.

Just give us the PlayStation 6 in 4 years, but don’t add any complexity with different power levels between PlayStations.

It was an error from the previous generation and we don’t need it again.

Don’t believe the hype. Analysts, in general, are morons.

The PS4 Pro and Xbox One X were both needed because that generation was under-powered and incapable of the new 4K displays that were common at the time.

Even then, the PS4 Pro had trouble hitting 4K and had no 4K drive for movies.

For now… 8K hasn’t caught on. 8K sets are rare and there is no 8K media standard. There is nothing underpowered about the current gen, just under-utilization.

Just to drive home the point, this is analyst’s saying they think sony should do this, not that sony is doing this.

That’s not the way the article is phrased though:

“A new CNBC report notes that there was now “broad concensus in the game industry that Sony is indeed preparing a launch of a PS5 Pro in the second half of 2024,” quoting Tokyo-based games analyst Serkan Toto.”

What do you think that means?

I think that means that the analyst said that him and his buddies sure do think it’ll happen, but with nothing to back it up at all.

The limitation of both was still way more the awful CPU and HDDs, though, neither of which they addressed much in the updated versions.

There’s plenty of room to improve graphics. It won’t make the PS5 obsolete, because the core CPU/SSD is what matters, but that doesn’t mean they can’t or won’t make a better one.

The only thing where a ps5 pro would make sense is by not having to choose between 4k and 60fps.

As of now, I don’t know if I’ever played a 4k game as my ps5 is set up to prioritize fps instead of fidelity.

        I’m the exact opposite, I’d rather have 4K 30 instead of 1080p/1440p 60.

Well then our common point is that we have to decide what time prioritize and that the only advantage of a ps5 pro would be that we wouldn’t have to do that 😅
