    It operates out of a commercial space. When my family converted a house to a commercial structure, we were required to increase fire protection. We had to add sprinklers, an additional fire door, and lighted exit signs. Commercial spaces have considerably better fire protection than residential spaces.

    If their zoning laws are anything like those in my area, the most likely reason they wouldn’t qualify as residential would be they lack a bathtub or shower.

    That doesn’t mean they pose a danger to the occupants. It merely means that occupants will have to take sponge baths during their emergency occupancy.
