Russia has started using ballistic missiles supplied by North Korea to attack Ukraine, the White House has said.

Washington also alleged Russia was in talks with Iran to buy short-range ballistic missiles. The US intelligence assessment is that Iranian missiles have not yet arrived in Russia, but that the deal will eventually be done.

The US’s national security council spokesperson, John Kirby, said on Thursday that Russia fired a North Korean ballistic missile into Ukraine on 30 December, but it landed in an open field. However, Kirby said Russian forces had launched more such missiles as part of a large salvo on 2 January, and their impact had yet to be assessed.

Does this just keep expanding until we have a World War? EU/Nato/US/Israel/Ukraine v Russia/Iran/North Korea?

Is the risk of this why no one has really intervened or tried to do anything in the Ukraine-Russia war, or just to make more money instead?

My guesses about elongating the war are:

      1. The international far-right is very dependent on Russia, and a Russian win is a win for every far-right party that think the average citizen is like a 12 year old.
      2. Said potential win could make Russia to force international human rights commitees to succumb to allow (or even expect) countries to abuse ethnic and LGBTQ+ minorities, the USA losing its leading position, dismantle international cooperations between countries like the EU and NATO (these likely will lead to either further invasions or forcing EU states to become Russian vassal states).
      3. The uncertanty and other issues can pipeline people into the far-right.
      4. It lets tankies flourish, who will make leftist ideas look awful, not much better or worse we currently have, unreasonable, unfeasible, etc.

To my fellow leftists: I also don’t like the US, but if they lose their place, it’ll cause a power vacuum in the stage of the world leaders. This won’t bring any worker liberation (unless you count some populist economic programs that inherently will help richer workers), but the end of human rights for LGBTQ+ people, the disabled, certain less visible minorities, etc. The US falling out won’t lead to a utopian world where every country is now free to pursue its own interest, but one where the US’es place is now being fulfilled by Russia, China, etc., and we will be happy if they don’t start to fight over which country gets which part of the EU, and won’t get “parental rights” imposed upon us by force.
