I think you’ll find there’s likely even broader support on individual level than the government positions. If you talk to people from the global south, most of them have positive views of Russia and negative views of the west. Russia has never colonized the global south and it hasn’t been waging wars against these countries. Of course, views aren’t homogeneous in any country, and you’ll find differences of opinion everywhere you go. However, overall views tend to align against the west.
