Yes, exactly. I used to not care, but now that I know, I absolutely do.
I don’t have much to offer directly, but when I see that hateful anti-[whatever] shit in comments somewhere I shoot it down as precisely and sharply and derisively as I can, or offer a word of support to people trying to do the right thing even if it seems small to the doer, because NOTHING is small when it lives day and night at the dagger end of your own personal pain. Seeing that someone, anyone, even a total stranger in comments, has your back can, under the right circumstances, keep you alive another day.
And I desperately want these beautiful people to live one more day. All of them. LBGTQIA+ people are one of the few groups of people left that form their own families out of nothing, creating real communities when their own have failed, who seem to demonstrate the best of humanity amongst themselves more often than the rest of us, who suffer SO much for no goddamn good reason but end up being lovely people if they live through it.
I know they have their own issues and prejudices and problems with violence; I don’t want to sound like I think they live in some queer heaven because no one does. But there’s nothing wrong with them! Never was! There’s FAR more wrong with those of us who cannot accept basic human differences than there EVER was with anyone different, be that difference one of race or ability or gender or sexual attraction (or all the above and more), and thus I no longer leave the necessary words unsaid when I have them and some fool bigot pipes up in my presence.
Back in the closet is just a compromise they’ll tolerate. They want LGBTQ people to not exist at all, and many are willing to kill to make that happen.
Republicans want the LGBTQ community back in the closet and for us all to shut up.
Hope everyone votes these Republicans out before they make America Great Again.
Which is funny because this has amplified the issue and now lots of us CisHets are using inclusive language in support of our nonCis-nonHet homies.

I guess we might need to redefine the word “great” soon.
Double-plus good?

‘Course they do.
They’re getting lonely by themselves.
