Oh they descend very fast. I’ve gone of plane rides at a skydiving spot, and as soon as the last person is out, the plane nosedive to land as quickly as possible. There’s a good chance you pass the last guy or 2 during freefall, and you land before half of the parachutes do.

It’s really fun, like a roller coaster drop, but I can definitely see it happening
