For All Mankind, Severance, Silo, Slow Horses, Foundation, Pachinko (my personal favourite), I could go on.

Apple TV+ may not have many shows. But their quality ratio is unmatched.

And Ted Lasso got boring after the first season 🤷‍♂️

Invasion isn’t a bad show but ignoring the fact that See, Silo, Severance, Slow Horses, Foundation, For All Mankind, and most other shows on Apple TV exist is just dumb. Ted Lasso was mid after season 1 imo but Apple TV has an unmatched quality level with most of their library. I dislike Apple but they’ve been making banger after banger compared to every other streaming service and I hope Monarch is just as good as everything else.

I feel like the difference in Apple TVs shows versus other streamers is the cinematic quality.

It reminds me of the days when the difference between network tv shows and premium cable shows was distinct.

I can’t seem to find the exact words but it feels like Apple TVs programming is just more polished, whether the plot/writing/pacing etc. is not great it still feels like a polished product that fell short.

Apple understands that trying to cut every corner to reduce cost is a recipe for garbage. More than that, they’re not afraid to spend what’s necessary to achieve better than “good”. I think they’re evil in other ways for sure, but I respect this about them. It shows in everything* they produce.

That keyboard was the absolute worst.

And they did 3 different versions of that shit before killing it for good.

It’s kind of cool to see them back to basics. Good keyboard, good connectivity, no touchbar BS, crazy good CPU and GPUs, crazy battery life.

Very meh. I first episodes that followed the books more closely were pretty good but later they just remove all the good bits and what’s left is just not that interesting.

Not enough shoutouts for Shrinking here…

Ted Lasso is definitely holding up the platform, no disagreement, but there’s some other great content there as well. Prehistoric Planet, too.

Ted Lasso and Shrinking are both made by Bill Lawrence, who also made Spin City, Scrubs, and Cougar Town.

It’s not Apple that makes the shows good.

Apple licenses the content from the creators – that’s true of almost every network and many film distributors as well.

Few distributors make their content in house. 'Netflix Original ’ doesn’t mean it was made by ‘Netflix Studios’ – they don’t exist. What happened was (for a series) that either a complete season or a pilot was shopped around, and Netflix bought the (exclusive) rights, which made that piece of content a Netflix Original. For films, they have usually already been made and are in a limited theatrical run (eg. Festivals) or are being shopped around privately. I imagine a limited few have distribution deals made prior to production, but that’s still not ‘Netflix’ (or Apple) making that content.

Apples launch content (eg. Ted Lasso) was produced to prop up the platform, but the method by which that content was discovered, funded and then licensed is not much different from how a traditional network (like NBC) might function.

I would say Severance, For All Mankind, & Foundation are all good to great. Apple TV has been doing a great job with the quality vs. quantity compared to other services. I tried to get into Ted Lasso but it wasn’t for me.

Read and loved them since I was a kid. I understand that different mediums have different requirements and adapting stories from the 40s/50s might necessitate some changes. I definitely have my issues with it, but I am able to enjoy it for what it is and not pretend it’s a 1 to 1 version of the books. Life is too short to get upset about entertainment.

I might still be watching invasion if it weren’t so damn dark, as in, I’m watching a black tv screen for 30% of each episode. Really enjoyed lasso, foundation, and currently watching for all mankind which is also quite good so far.

That’s not on Apple TV. It’s on (HBO) Max.

Why are so many people in this thread attributing shows to Apple TV that were never on Apple TV?

Apple TV+ does not have enough shows to justify $10/month.
