Nearly 37 million people in China may have been infected with COVID-19 on a single day this week, Bloomberg News reported on Friday, citing estimates from the government's top health authority.
They are actually very vaxxed up over 80% so ppl are going back to claiming their vaccines are shit. Keep in mind the severity of the pandemic in the US (which everyone is comparing the numbers to) is not reflected in the numbers. From what I’ve seen, there has been independent testing that has shown that Sinovac is at least reasonably effective. It’s won’t completely stop a COVID-19 infection, but it is near 100% for severe COVID. That said, for China’s scale that still means a 20% unvaccinated population will severely impact hospitals, especially in areas that have higher rates of vaccine hesitancy or are not prepared for a wave of infections.
