That’s Top-10-social-apps-on-the-Play-store shitware app to you
How do I give more money than I already have to this pig of a dev who made the Lemmy experience so great to me and countless others such that it is now in the top 10 social apps on the Play store?
As a sync user I support this and would like to see it lol
I subscribe to RSS feeds for subreddits that don’t exist on Lemmy just so that I don’t give them any clicks or ad revenue.
For answers to questions or problems that are only available on Reddit, I turn on my favorite privacy browser, I hold my breath, go to that specific post, get my answer, and gtfo asap.
Like the saying goes, never stick it in crazy. But if you have to, be protected.
Like @skye pointed out, I suspect it might indeed be based on region. I remember another thread where a user reported seeing Sync rated at 3 stars, whereas others reported 5 stars.
Top 6 app behind X (still can’t get used to that stupid name) and before Facebook lite… not bad
You are entitled to make any assumptions you want about my choice. I’m glad you have your criteria for choosing the platforms and apps you like, and I celebrate that.
Unfortunately, you don’t really know my reasoning for my choice of platform and app, so telling me to go to Reddit based on your mis-assumptions about why I like Lemmy and Sync really highlights the core issue here.
Anyway, good luck to you bud. I hope you have a great Friday.
No, defending FOSS is not what reeks, it’s how people zealously go about defending it that does.
But you’re right, no need to discuss further.
As much as those atrocious combinations give me the shivers, especially docker on Windows, we really should be advocating for the freedom of choice (even if that choice might be the wrong one). People should be free to do what they want, and such freedom should be celebrated.
This type of comment and attitude is what reeks in FOSS. Really unfortunate.
Oh the irony of this comment… calling others hypocritical and stupid when they themselves don’t have the full context into the reason people beg for Sync… The irony is too strong
Same. The current price of Sync Ultra lifetime distributed over a decade of some of the best, consistent and polished experience I’ve seen in an app is gladly something I’d pay (and have already paid) just to support and thank lj
And that’s a perfectly fine and respectable position to have. In the mean time, I’m gonna go find where I can enter my credit card
As a Sync user, I support this comment. The fact that these debates occur is precisely due to the fact that people have the freedom of choice, and that’s something to celebrate.
Sync doesn’t have to be “better” or “worse” than other apps and vice versa. People should pick what they like. I pick it because it feels like home after having used it for almost 10 years. Doesn’t mean it’s better.
My first post back on Sync… I’ve never felt this type of euphoric sensation for an app before
That is AWESOME! Congrats!
Yes that’s right, portainer stacks equate to compose… I might be wrong, but I remember reading somewhere a while back that they (and other container orchestration tools) were not permitted to reference “Docker” due to legal and licensing restrictions by Docker.
Not to the level of Reddit, but Docker has its fair share of questionable business decisions.
Portainer is definitely useful (I use it on a daily basis), but probably a bad place to start…
I started with the following progression:
Good luck in your journey!
I took a look at Dashy, I think I see the confusion. If you are looking at this article, then yes they mention Code Server, but that’s purely in the context of using Dashy in a non-docker context. But to be honest, any text editor works.
But I think that’s a red herring. That in itself has nothing to do with docker.
What you’ll need to do, once you understand the fundamentals of running docker, pull images, start a container based on an imagine, is to expose a docker volume that points to /public/conf.yaml
. A docker volume ensures that the file or directory it’s mapped to in the container is available and persists outside of the container. This allows you to persist files and directories without losing them once the container stops or restarts.
Once the volume is exposed, then you can use your favorite text editor to update the dashy config file. Code Server is fine, powerful, but overkill.
But first, try getting familiar with pulling, starting stopping docker images using the cli. Gotta start there first before tinkering with docker parameters like volumes.
Didn’t have to think twice to get Sync Ultra lifetime for the amazing value Sync has been in my life the past 10 years. Even paid for previous Sync for Reddit versions. Easy decision. Thanks LJ
