I NEED IT!!!
I’m about done with Winter, the last book in the primary Lunar Chronicles quartet. It’s been a really great read thus far, like the rest of the series. I’m excited to see just how the big bad gets their comeuppance, as well as what becomes of the cast of characters. Then I’ll be on to the two addendum books to the series - the first is a series of short stories, but I didn’t know how they relate yet. The second is a novela about the backstory of said big bad, which should be intriguing.
Wait… But what buttons are missing that you actually use?! Maybe I’ve just gotten too used to my remote, but I don’t think I’ve ever wanted for another button on the remote, aside from maybe a source button.
I’m taking a break from Animal Crossing to try and finally finish Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. We’ll see how far I get this time. It’s got a lot of classic RPG feel that I really love, and the Ghibli animated cutscenes are gorgeous, but I’m really not used to having to “watch” my games, so we’ll see.
I’m not super sure. If I recall correctly, we’ve known for a while that something was going on, because surface hearing alone couldn’t account for all of the water evaporating from oceans, but we couldn’t tell what. In defense of humanity here, the concept of photons interacting with something as comparably massive as molecules is kinda wild. We were caught way off guard when the photoelectric effect was announced, and that’s photons interacting with whole atoms instead of just elementary particles. The idea of the photomolecular effect is thus even wilder.
If you read the article, it’s pretty clear. Instead of the energy of the photons being used to heat the water molecules to state change, that energy is used to break the molecular bonds between small groups of water molecules, and those groups are small enough to then be picked up by the air and evaporate. This way, the energy contained in a photon is converting much more liquid water to water vapor than if that same amount of energy was actually used to excite the water molecules, as in a microwave.
That’s pretty much what I expected, which is really cool to see. The next number I would love to see is some sort of price per weight comparison. As @edgemaster72@lemmy.world pointed out, the next common argument is that LEGO sets have a lot more smaller pieces now, so if the PPP has stayed roughly the same, the price per weight should have gone up.
Pokemon - I love the whole series for what it is, but if I had to pick a favorite I would probably go with Heart Gold.
Wind Waker - I was late to Zelda games, and this was the first I ever beat. The whole feel of the game still keeps it as my favorite - it’s a lot of light-hearted fun, with gorgeous visuals and fantastic music, but still tells a story that feels grave and important.
Yes, and that’s their goal. They don’t want viable universities for the masses.
IDK. Most of the early games were actually pretty entertaining. I fairly recently played sorcerer’s stone on the gbc, and it was still pretty fantastic.
I buy for myself only sporadically - most of my stuff comes from Christmas presents. It probably comes out to about $200 a year, maybe $300. Admittedly, if we lived closer to a LEGO store, it would probably be a fair bit more…
I haven’t played most of these, but I will gladly add an endorsement to the early Harry Potter games. They often only tangentially related to the movies, but they had some awesome mechanics, and played into the full story really well.
While it never got much past the concept phase, I think it would be fun to play a circle of stars druid as a magical girl. I was thinking this ancient elven man who learned a bit of the druidic magics of his people, but was always more fascinated with the stars. One day he connected with a group of gnomes who invented a flying machine that could take them to the moon, and immediately signed up for the trip. When he got there, he discovered a moon goddess that had been trapped there. They hit it off famously, he offered to help free her, and she turned him into a knight of sorts, giving him the transformation ability. When he transforms, he turns into this young, bubbly, vivacious eleven woman with crazy armor and the standard anime oversized weapon that is based on which form he transformed into. She still has all the same memories, ideas and goals, but with a completely different personality. It would be pretty entertaining.
It also seems like there’s some sort of unlock mechanism for what civs will be available for you to choose from in the next era - you’ll assumably have to do certain things in an era to unlock specific civs for the next era
