Many of these threads are made in good faith and out of curiousity, but often times the comments become filled with hatred, ignorance, and trolling.

You don’t say.

My favourite was a junior dev who was like, “when I read from this input file the data is weirdly mangled and unreadable so as the first processing step I’ll just remove all null bytes, which seems to leave me with ASCII text.”

(It was UTF-16.)

“this thing takes more time and effort to process queries, but uses the same amount of computing resources” <- statements dreamed up by the utterly deranged.
