I am never going to install linux on my gaming pc. It is too much work if you are into multiplayer/live service games. Windows just works if you uninstall all the ms crap.

I use windows because it combines the best of both worlds. If you set it up correctly you will never think about switching to linux or mac.
How is the vrr (gsync) support on linux. On windows gsync ON + vsync ON + Reflex ON will give the least latency and smooth tear free gameplay and you don’t have to manually cap the fps for every game like you do on a amd card.
All they need is a chrome browser, so why would the government waste money on windows licences? A huge win is when personal pcs switch to linux. Linux doing basic web browsing and word processing is not a huge win.
No one complains about ios/android requiring a login.
Until you realise it is mostly steam deck and indian govt office pc running linux.
Open source software also works on windows. I use package managers on windows with terminal. I uninstall all the bloat with terminal on windows. Everything just works and is supported better on windows.
No wonder the lack of software support.
So basically linix is a fragmented mess. I will just stick to windows all my games , apps work and i can also uninstall all the microsoft bloat with a single click.
Wow why linux is so broken with multiple package mangers. Is it supposed to be easier than windows? On windows i just type “choco install blender” on terminal and everything just works.
Some game updates just break proton compatibility.
If i use both, that will give me less incentive to be on linux , because windows even though it is annoying with microsoft bloat, everything just works and i will stay there because life is easier.
More like anticheat is holding back the adoption of linux and linux adoption/recommendation will be easier if all the games works.
Any game that you dont enjoy is trash, got it.
But the people like my friend who is the majority here doesn’t care if it is the dev or linux. They know they cant get a seamless experience if you switch from windows, which he will also preach to his friends. Most people want their stuff to work with minimal effort. People like me and you who care beyond that is a minority.
It is true, i mean if you are into popular online first person shooters on twitch linux is not the best choice. And it doesn’t help when you come back say, those games are not worth playing.
You can check on the previous posts i made in this community. It always sucks when a friend wants to play a game with incompatible anticheat and you tell him about linux. This created a bad impression about linux for him. If you want linux gaming to grow anticheat compatibility should be a top priority. Windows is not all that bad if you remove/modify the annoying parts of windows and everything just works.
Every multiplayer game that doesn’t work is because of anticheat. I wish valve actually pushed developers to fix their anticheat and make linux gaming better.
I run arr stack and jellyfin server on windows 11. Also use tailscale for remote access
So how are OS updates handled, they are not written into the main OS?
