Fuck… That’s terrifying.
I’ve discussed this with my wife. If any dentist tell us our daughter needs teeth removed we’re getting a 2nd and maybe a 3rd opinion.

Yeah, I think I saw that post.
Lots of “it’s OK when we do it” sentiment.
I’ve noticed the majority (or at least the vocal ones) don’t really stand on principles such as free speech. And I don’t mean as in a “free speech” Lemmy instance. I mean in terms of inalienable rights.
To many here, things like that are only for the “good” people, as determined by them.
iOS friends, check out the Mastodon client Ice Cubes.
It’s free (beer and speech) and it’s very good IMO.
Also, after you settle on a server, consider setting up a recurring donation to your admin to help with server costs. The way I see it, it’s that or ads and enshitification.
I’m too tired to hash that out with you.
I moved from Twitter to Mastodon when Elon bought Twitter. I think what you saw on Mastodon was a product of what you were following (people and hashtags).
The other nice thing happening somewhat recently is that I can follow Bluesky (through a bridge) and Threads (some accounts now, more as federation between the platforms matures).
Not being able to follow the brands you want is just a symptom of them not being on these platforms yet. I follow a few news outlets, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Kagi search, Vivaldi browser, Cloudflare, Mozilla, The Internet Archive, etc.
I’m hoping more show up on these platforms with time and that BS and Threads actually do integrate more fully with Mastodon.
I’ll be more excited about that when they start allowing larger federated instances.
I haven’t read a ton about it, I have to admit, but last I read, federated instances are limited in number of accounts.
More generally, the idea that taking crypto bro money will allow them to stay as open as Mastodon sounds unlikely to me.
My Mastodon experience is far more pleasant than that of Lemmy.
My sense is Mastodon is far less left leaning (but still left of center) but it may just be a product of who I’m following and the tags I’m following.
Pro-Russian comment meant to wield the left’s propensity to over-diagnose racism to redirect and distract.
I’m not going to bet against you because I don’t trust you, and also because I don’t bet money on politics.
But also because you know I’m right. Please stop pretending like you don’t know that. Save some amazing and very welcome change to our electoral system, you know damn well I’m right.
because no one cares about what you’re saying you want to bet against people around you.
It’s not really about the bet or money. It goes to show that we all know what the outcome will be. People pretend to believe some other outcome is possible, likely even. But when presented with a bet they back off immediately. Why? Because we all know.
and we don’t know what’s going to happen on account of it not having happened just yet.
I’m doing too well in my predictions over these past few elections for it to be a coincidence. I know exactly what’s going to happen and so do you. That or I have powers of foresight for a very particular event…
And the other point is that I don’t care what the political party of the president is. I care what the president and their supporters try to push through in terms of policies.
Sure… I guess? When it comes down to it, I also don’t care which party wins as long as the candidate aligns with me politically. That’s not news. But you know as well as I do that a Republican is much less likely to give me a public option, real action on climate, institute policies to encourage walkable cities, or any of the other policies I imagine you and I align on. Why pretend like any of them is remotely possible from the Republican side?
Try employing logic.
And a judge even blocked that. What do we think would happen to more substantial changes?
Who writes this shit? Did they already forget the SCOTUS appointment under similar circumstances? The bar isn’t just lowered. There isn’t one anymore.
I’ll bet you any amount of money that the next president is either the Dem or Rep nominee.
I repeated this over and over before the 2020 election. No one took me up on it.
I repeated it over and over again before the most recent election. No one took me up on it.
And no one will take me up on it for 2028 either because we all know what’s going to happen. So let’s stop pretending like we don’t.
They’re pretending there was some other possibility besides Harris or Trump.
Instead of pointing their fingers at millions of trump voters, they are pointing it at people with empathy for having anti-genocider stance.
Trump voters are lost. We (incorrectly) expected those that aren’t dumb enough to directly vote for Trump to be smart enough to understand FPTP voting and act appropriately to avoid the worse outcome.
We were wrong.
We’re fully circular already. I’m done with this particular thread.
I’m not saying that so please stop putting words in my mouth.
I’m saying there’s very likely lots we don’t know. If you don’t believe there’s lots you don’t know about this, I think you’re ignorant.
I love the way those look
That’s what I had planned in my head.
If they don’t discover on their own that some tooth needs to come out, it probably doesn’t need to come out.
