i’m all for periodic contributions through channels like open collective but bounties rarely get to the point of being persuading.
for a couple of years now my favorite foss project has been blender bim addon and its community osarch.
it has a unique aspect. the software stack it’s trying to be an alternative of includes giants like autodesk, nemetchek etc. although it’s a gigantic shoe to fill, it has been really really successful at doing what it’s doing. i have been using it for a year now and cannot fathom to go back.
the community consists of experienced construction sector people and a decent amount of them are directly involved in the software development, be it coding, bug triage, educational content, technical support etc.
i guess the thing that makes a project tick is having a working state software, the degree to which is not important, and being community oriented.
this is literally how we work now in construction. because everything is digital people think that this is an acceptable approach. all my costing files are purposefully extremely dynamic.
you want to add another floor? no problem.
you want to change some floors from 3 bedroom to 2 bedroom? no problem.
you want to remove a parking floor and have outside parking? no problem. you don’t want to have low hanging beams? no problem.
and so on and so on…
i know i should not be working like this, but sometimes i have to.
how is that vi-inspired? shortcut for quitting is just q!!!
i’ve had a t420 for years and it’s still going strong

if you’re looking for an original distro, you should try void. it’s super lightweight. i used to keep away from gentoo because it was a source only distro, i would otherwise go fulltime on it, but now that it also has binary compatibility you should check that out, too.
as for wm, i love wayfire as a floating wm, and sway as a tiling wm.
which was made possible thanks to public funding.
my favorite is le cola. it’s not french by the way :)
for freecad specifically, you should check out https://forum.freecad.org and if you’re interested in architecture you should definitely check out https://community.osarch.org
this is the easiest and most lightweight selfhosted microblogging software that i have used (apart from gnusocial). i have hosted mastodon, pleroma, gotosocial, friendica and gnusocial. it’s just php, i love it.
with note3 unlocking was a breeze. i got a poco f1 a couple of months ago and i literally spent a week to find the correct unlocker. this is really getting out of hand. i would buy a fairphone or shiftmq for my next phone but my country has some weird rules in place for iemi’s so it’s really not an option.
ok, i guess we understand each other and i won’t call every gender non-conforming person queer until further notice :) my original comment was a generalization. i have said stuff like “peertube is praxis” meaning that it’s a way to undermine the establishment. are all peertube instances communist? no! there are whole lot of reactionaries using peertube.
is this any different than “leftist” grifters? anyone can be a jerk. that doesn’t make the concept any worse. just because a trans person is bad doesn’t make being trans bad. but in majority being a trans person means that you have critically thought about yourself and came to a conclusion. this shows critical thinking. a person might blindly or critically be cis. but nobody is blindly trans.
before i get totally confused, can you give an example of what a reactionary trans person doing just enough looks like? because it’s getting too abstract for me.
i had said “being queer is praxis” and i meant all lgbtq+ people by that, i didn’t mean reactionary trans person. being against the cultural, social norms is praxis, to me. it agitates.
in some parts of the world, for example where i live, even trans people existing is too much for people.
ok then my original comment was not incorrect, because i meant to include every gender non-conforming person.
yes, thank you
