I guess that is just a result of the online society we live in. People used to meet eachother in places like the gym or the supermarket or wherever normal. Nowadays people get startled if you strike up random convo’s. As long as you are not a total creep about it then it should be fine.

Exactly five years ago covid hit my country. I cannot accept it has been five years already lol. It’s like I’m still sort of waiting for life to get back to normal despite no Covid restrictions being in place for a few years now.

In 2019 I started to break free from some bad habits and I felt like the future was looking bright for me. Going into 2020 I was excited about what might come. And then covid hit and it changed me from a pretty happy and goofy person into someone kinda bitter and anxious. It’s probably not solely covid’s fault but still. And then when it was ‘over’, Ukraine and its financial consequences for Europe hit.

Sometimes I am reminded of the phase in my life in which the Uyghur genocide bullshit was making rounds in the news and I went like: ‘I’m going to never buy Chinese products again!’ which I actually followed up on. I find it amusing to think about how I turned out eventually lol. But at least I actually wanted to do something against it back then, I guess.

I mean I’m not saying you shouldn’t but it really needs some thought for how you will do it otherwise it can be highly inappropriate very quickly.

There are virtually no public bathrooms anywhere here but I do have a subscription to some shitty chain brand gym and I can use that as a public restroom in any city. Dumb as fuck.

I say this because I either dress like I’m about to star in an Italian espresso ad or in an episode of Friends and none of my comrades in the party ever seemed like dressing up a certain way due to ideology.

It blows my mind how the socdems in my city managed to put forward one of their old politicians who used to be mayor. He has been convicted of fraud and embezzlement when he was the CEO of a football club, among other things. He was facing multiple years in jail but managed to buy off his sentence. Highly corrupt individual.

But apparently socdems have no problem with that.

Just came back from the protest. Several parties involved say there were 100k people, though police says 60k. The truth must be somewhere in between.

As for the protest itself:

For reasons that are still unclear to me I decided to take the offer of an edible made by one of my coworkers. I am no stranger to edibles but this thing just slapped me in the face right at the beginning of the protest. Life started to move in slow motions, everything felt kinda warm and I was really feeling the vibe. It was cool to see so many people come together against the government. I think it is the biggest protest I ever attended.

For a large part I was walking behind a female antifa block which looked very cool. They were chanting and singing and it was rad. They look rad too, like they could kick my ass any moment.

Somewhere during the protest we stopped at the office of one of the government parties and people started throwing eggs and stuff at the windows. Police got involved and some tear gas was dispersed but no serious injuries it seems. I was hanging around the action at the time lol.

Then: In Brussels you have this street full of embassies. Most of them are just a six story building with a fence and a flag. Not the US Embassy my friends. It was made up out of several building, with a fence with spikes, a heavily guarded personal road and another fence at the normal street level, equipped with dozens of camera’s. I thought that was really funning and telling of the state of this world. Like, not even the Russian embassy was that heavily secured.

All in all I had a great time and the vibe was amazing. And we are not done yet as another general strike is coming up in a few weeks.

Today is the day of the big strike in Belgium. We are expecting tens of thousands of workers in Brussels and it should be massive.
