I understand some practices are, and it’s been spurred by the government releasing the flood gates of loans, letting 18 year olds rack up 200k in debt while encouraging universities to bloat the costs of college, but for the most part, getting a degree and going in debt is worth every penny.

Fucking good. We’ve constantly spent more than our peer countries on public education, but our quality of education is trash. I don’t know if it’s the bloated admin state, the desire to constantly try to teach new things in various ways then ditching the programs after 2 years, or just overall incompetence, but our education system is incredibly well funded, but doing shitty.

What I do know, is government preventing building houses is causing a housing shortage.
My biggest head scratcher now that I’ve bought a house is “huh, my mortgage is locked in now, no matter what the market does… Why did rent keep going up if my landlord’s mortgages were locked in?”
Property taxes, market rate, costs to repair and maintain, interest rates increasing. How much money, beyond your mortgage, have you spend on your house since you moved in?
