Just start from the beginning and get ready. You’re in for one hell of a ride. One of the best gaming experiences out there for sure.

I haven’t been really active on Beehaw for a while now. Where can I read more about Beehaw leaving Lemmy?
You shouldn’t have to rely on the words of Internet random though, go try one out.
That’s true and I have done that a few times. However they weren’t so informative since I was only able to try some recent Android phones at stores so they weren’t used. My close friends and family either have iPhones or midrange/budget Android phones. So I thought my next best bet is to ask others online.
Forgive me for asking if it was obvious in your comment but, when you said
in iOS the UI thread is split from the rest of the compute, and runs at elevated priority if i recall correctly. this used to not be the same case for android
did you mean that now Android does the same?
It would not. Because when you signed up to Reddit, you accepted their user agreement, which you can read here in full: https://www.redditinc.com/policies/user-agreement-september-25-2023

I don’t know man. Onion is not convenient, and in the modern day and age, especially online, convenience is king.
Edit: I’m dumb, misread you comment as “in the future”, not “in my future”.
This is such a half-ass job at rebranding. They only changed the logos on their front page. All the wording, logos and icons are still the previous ones on their About the Company page, Brand Toolkit, Help Center, Developer Platform, Business and Advertising etc etc.
if your “diversity” is when five white people in a room have opinions and those five white people happen to be from different countries and have distinct culture that’s essentially just white people jerking themselves off.
Can you elaborate on that? Like, I honestly think an American, a Russian and an Albanian having different opinions would be considered diverse. Aren’t those vastly different cultures despite the fact that they’re white?
Same thing goes for other skin colors as well. What you’re saying in my opinion is akin to calling Japanese and Chinese people “the same”. Or Persian and Arabs.
And also,
that’s essentially just white people jerking themselves off.
Please, is this the language we’re using here? The person above is clearly not trying to be a white supremacist, neither were they indecent. You could have used a better phrasing.
As an aside: it’s also a little short sighted to assume that bucketing people in a “white” group means they aren’t diverse in their own right. I’d imagine there is quite a diverse makeup of “white people” on here-- people from Western Europe, Eastern Europe, the US, Canada, Australia, and elsewhere who all have very different perspectives, cultures, and norms that they bring to the table.
Couldn’t agree more. I can understand why people from the US may think that a graph showing mostly white people would mean a lack of diversity, but this is not a US-only website. There are so much diversity amongst white people. As a Turkish person, my skin is white yes, but I have grown up in a vastly different culture and environment than a white American, or a white Russian, or a white French. Or while my skin is white I’ve yet to have a “white privilege” because again, I’m not from the US.
I know, in a poll like this you can’t just make every ethnicity and background an option -there are just too many of them. But again in an international community like this, saying that a white majority means a lack of diversity is just wrong in my opinion.
Funnily enough, I have another friend that wants to sell his Series S and switch to PlayStation. A while ago he said he’s willing to sell it for 200 bucks. But I had have heard so many negative things about the Series S I kindly rejected his offer. Negative things such as how most games are capped at 30 fps, how the games look blurry, how it’s holding back the quality games that would have been developed if it didn’t exist etc. I can ask him if he’s still looking for a buyer actually, but again, I don’t know if the Series S is a good console. It certainly doesn’t seem to have the reputation PS4 has.
No way, you must be kidding. Ads on the home screen sounds disgusting.
I’m sure soon enough people are going to develop some “get to the point” extension that automatically deletes all the unnecessarily verbose sentences AI writes.
I’m a huge pop-punk addict, but lately I’ve been listening to Rolling Along by The Longest Johns on repeat. I don’t know why but it makes me so happy, puts a stupid smile on my face.
Edit: I just watched the music video for the first time. Let’s just say, it’s better to play it in the background lol.
I don’t know, Bethesda’s games have always been iffy when it comes to FPS. Skyrim for example breaks if you mod it to have over 60 fps if I remember correctly. Even on Fallout 76 movement speed was kinda tied to the FPS so players looking at the ground (so that less things render thus increasing FPS) would run faster than others.
I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if they cap it to 60 FPS on PC as well.
Man finally! It’s been so bad on macOS for the longest time. Pages not loading correctly, buttons not working, keyboard shortcuts not working… Now everything seems to be working!
Man, Firewatch. I don’t know how they managed to make the player connect on an emotional level with a character that you don’t even get to meet, but they did a fantastic job.
Man, I feel so stupid. When I played the Witcher 3 and finished the main storyline alongside all the non-DLC side quests, I was so impressed that I went “Man, this was amazing. This is as good as it gets. This was the best video game I have ever experienced by far! I want it to stay that way. I’m not gonna drag it on and leave it here.” and didn’t play the DLCs! And then went ahead and sold my PS4!
Ever since all I’ve been hearing from people who also played the game is how awesome the DLCs are. Everyone says they’re even better than the main storyline. I feel like a massive idiot lol.
Okay but I don’t understand. Isn’t paying to remove ads a fair deal? I don’t know, I pay for YouTube Premium and I’m kinda happy about it. The price seems fair; you get no ads, you get to download stuff, enables picture-in-picture and background playback. YouTube has been my main source of entertainment for the last couple of years so it’s the only subscription I have alongside Spotify.
Honestly, I pay for YouTube Premium because I find value in it. The price is reasonable for where I live, and it’s my main source of entertainment. I don’t like watching movies/TV shows that much so YouTube is my jam. So the convenience of being able to download videos, ad-free viewing, picture-in-picture, background playback etc. is totally worth it for me. I know if I dig hard enough and use an Android phone/tablet I can get those features without having to pay, but I don’t like Android and again, the features are worth the small price.
For me, YouTube Premium and Spotify broke piracy because they’re more convenient than pirating.
I am not a developer and honestly curious about this. What’s Apple’s reason for ditching 32 bit programs? Isn’t backwards compatibility a net positive for both developers and consumers?
