  • I mean, that’s all there is to say really. I know the fediverse is broken up into different, interconnected domains, but literally any one of them could be monetized by their domain owner. Obviously we would all just block that domain/move to another, but it’s not an impossibility.

Mostly I’m just saying, “don’t get complacent, they could always pull the rug from under us.”

  • As someone who grew up in a (not so surprising) racist family: I promise you, they don’t care. If she had an ® next to her name, they’d be voting for her instead of Trump, as long as the opponent had a (D) next to their name.

The modern republican party is what’s left of “the south that will rise again”. Doesn’t matter that Donnie dipshit wasn’t born in the south, that’s the demographic he’s been taught, all his life, that matters.

And in Donnie the dipshit’s case, it’s basically still 1800s America. Guy hasn’t moved a millimeter since 1990. Guy probably doesn’t know what the word ‘no’ even means.

If you vote for Donnie Dumbass, I hope once the liberals are gone ,he comes for you next.

  • Almost 90% of lemmy is ex-redittors.

I have become very tiresome with how those mods seems to be on some sort of power trip

In my experience, that’s only on lemmy.ml and maybe one or two other instances. If you go there, just know the entire vibe there is (seemingly) “westerners bad, liberals bad, all hail communism cause capitalism is a western liberal ideal!” or some other variation of that whole backwards ideology.

There’s a couple instances that have their heads so far up their own asses that they’ve become their own Adam’s Apple, and those ones are usually just mods going on power trips because someone called them a bad name.

Ultimately this place is hardly different than reddit, aside from not being a corporate megastructure that will sell your post history to the highest bidder (but that might change, so stay vigilant). You’ll learn what instances/subcommunities are worth seeing–and which ones are best avoided–in time.

Social standards are not the benign excuse you think they are. If someone ever hits you, you hit back. If that’s how they think you learn, then make them learn that getting hit hurts, and show them why they shouldn’t be hitting.

Letting someone hit you just cause “it’s normal” is called Stockholm Syndrome, and is objectively worse than being the one that’s doing the hurting, because it teaches other people that hurting others is okay.

If you saw an adult, hitting and dragging away a child who’s fighting back with all their might at a grocery store, there’s 2 things that could be happening. A.) just a parent “disciplining” their kid, or B.) a literal kidnapping is taking place.

In your (clearly more informed) mind, it would always be scenario A, and you wouldn’t even think twice about the possibility of scenario B, “because that’s the social norm,” according to you.

I’ll say it one more time: IF YOU THROW HANDS, EXPECT TO CATCH HANDS, NO MATTER YOUR AGE, GENDER, OR FUCK ALL.

Who said anything about a nursing home? I thought we were talking about throwing punches? Cause as I said, as each party ages, they both learn who hits harder.

Any old person that acts like they can’t catch hands, is literally asking for some to be thrown.

If you’re 20yo still taking abuse from someone three times your age, you’re not fighting hard enough for your own rights.

I hope to any and every god that may exist, that kid gets close enough to Erdogan one day, to return the favor tenfold.
