They enable people to get in contact with god/the universe/ reality in a spiritual way and the church made it very clean the only way you can for realizes get in contact with god is through them and the holy higher ups. Every unofficial way of connecting to god that doesn’t involve the church is actually a trap invented by Satan to deceive. I refuse to tell Christians about my spiritual experiences that converted me from being an athiest anymore because they will literally tell me my experiences are ‘wrong’.
