this has nothing to do with being vegan. please stop.
If she starved or died due to complications from her diet, if she wasn’t able to stave off an infection for example or recover properly from an illness that would not affect an otherwise healthy individual - I would say her diet or nutrition lifestyle is germane to the situation.
I believe that being vegan is a perfectly valid lifestyle and dietary choice but also people should be aware of some of the pitfalls.
Can you please elaborate why you feel that being vegan has nothing to do with it?
Hey, vegan here. It’s okay if you want to hate veganism and/or vegans themselves. Quite frankly, I don’t care, but please refrain from omitting important details in the article to make plant-based diets as a whole look bad. It makes you look like a close-minded moron who will grasp at any straws to justify your position.
Any diet handled poorly will be nutritionally detrimental, no shit, and she just happened to handle her plant-based diet by consuming essentially nothing but raw fruit. For you to fail to acknowledge this actually makes me think you’re just, in bad faith, looking for any leverage you can get to shit on veganism when you don’t have to. I can assure you that, as a vegan, I find her dietary choices insane.
Let me leave you with this: think for a moment. Be a little more critical about how you approach a matter like this. I’m not saying this for my sake; I’m saying it for yours, so you don’t embarrass yourself online by coming off as a dense motherfucker with a straightforward, black-and-white, narrow , linear thought process.
Thanks.
Wow. Are you going to be ok? I’m not sure if you’re reading into my comment with some baggage.
You’re absolutely right about fruit based - I casually wrapped vegan and fruit based together without realizing that she was practicing an extreme diet and it wasn’t indicative of a vegan diet.
I suppose I’m not aware of how much grief you get from society or people to defend your choices.
I’ll try not to comment on vegan topics anymore and I’m not sure what I said specifically to deserve such venom but I’ll do my best to not come across as a moron I guess.
I didn’t obfuscate facts from the article. I wasn’t attempting to summarize the article. I was asking how her diet doesn’t account for issues stemming from her diet. But I see now what you mean that her being vegan and eating only fruit are two different things. I guess reading it casually I wasn’t sensitive to what must be your plight.
Hope you feel better.
I’m going to be just fine. Dude, I’m just interpreting this very face value. The article outright references eating “an all fruit diet”. The fact that you went out of your way to seemingly make this about veganism being the inherent concern just reeked of bad faith. CTFO.
Yes. I need to chill. Me. How much more face value can you get from the lede in the article? Maybe the title of the article I suppose. However as addressed by other comments the article in whole was probably in bad faith.
You don’t need to defend your life. I hope you don’t approach every exchange as an opportunity to fight. There must be a better way to communicate without being combative with each other. Surely not every interaction needs to be conflict? I wasn’t attacking you or veganism. I don’t know you and please don’t think you know me. I didn’t think my comment was antagonizing. If I was that’s entirely on me.
My wife and I were considering how to alter our diet. Our friend is a vegan and we were talking about it with him. I’ll stick to that. I’ll try to not be a dense mother fucker and I hope you are open to people surprising you with happiness and joy. Or not. Doesn’t matter to me.
It’s not that deep.
I think it is. I think this applies to your life more than you’d like to probably admit. I hope that you find joy and bliss and realize that the people in your life care about you and you don’t need to defend who you are to anyone.
I don’t know you and wasn’t looking to fight with you and after you called me a dense motherfucker for being - in your eyes - willfully repugnant I still care enough about you to see someone hurting. So if a stranger on the internet can reach out to you and hopes with all his being that you find solace then maybe the world doesn’t suck. So… yeah it is that deep. At least for me.
It’s not that deep.
Because the overwhelming majority of vegans aren’t eating nothing but fruit? Come on dude you can’t actually be this dense.
Look I’m sorry. I thought I had phrased my comment in a nonthreatening and inclusive way. But I guess you are right and I’m a complete useless human moron.
I’ll not comment anymore then.
Please see also my response to the other non toxic vegan person for clarification.
It just occurred to me that this Vegan influencer was promoting a lifestyle that may be dangerous and we should discuss it but I’m a moron so I’ll go away.
This is a case like not all gun owners suck only some gun owners suck.
The article was unfair. That’s a good discussion topic. Vegans aren’t all fruit people. That’s also valid. The importance of diet and the impact on our earth - also valid and crucial. How I should behave as to not come across as a dense moron - I’m not sure interesting to anyone else but I’m willing to have a go if you both are.
She was a vegan promoting vegan diet online. How does thay have ntohing to do with being a vegan? what?!
The SUN: “SHE DIED OF VEGANISM!”
Lemming: “How does this story have nothing to do with her being vegan?!?!”
I see we’re already at Reddit type levels of idiocy.
So the story has nothing to do with veganism, is that the point your trying to make? Really unclear
Let’s be honest, tho: you don’t know either as her cause of death has not been released. I agree, the other user jumped to conclusions, but you can’t say anything definitive as of now either.
I never claimed to know her cause of death. But between “cholera” and “veganism” I’d rather bet on the former.
Because not all vegans eat the same restricted diet she was on. And not all vegans are anotexic, vegans do eat enough.
But I guess this vegan did starve herself. I don’t even think the sun suggested all vegans diets are deadly.
If they put it like that in the title, I see it like they are strongly implying it. Of course, I might be misreading it.
Also calling someone who eats only five different plants vegan does not sound really truthful to me either.
Any vegan with half a brain knows that you need more than just fruit to be healthy. Assuming her death by infection is a result of her diet (which is possible, but we don’t know that), she died of being an idiot, not a vegan.
It’s the Sun, what do people expect other than incendiary content that’s usually wrong? We should all take a leaf out of Liverpool’s book and have nothing to do with it.
For people who aren’t from the UK we’re kind of the other way around to America, our TV and radio news is generally pretty well-adjusted on the whole but our tabloid press is straight up infotainment and this has carried over into the internet era.
