I’m a very casual sailor, and not very tech savvy, but I’ve torrented and used magnet links in the past with no issues.
I found the file I’m looking for. But things have changed. The site I used doesn’t provide magnets anymore, only Rapidgator links (split into 5 rar files, this is going to take me days) for direct downloads .
Every other link I found sends me to torrent trackers I need to create an account for, such as RuTracker. Which I tried, and with different emails, (brand new emails) yet every time I get rejected. Why? What am I doing wrong? Do I need to wait a couple of hours after creating the account? Are the sites not accepting registrations anymore?
Does the site you use have the file hash listed?? If so you can use a hash to magnet generator, just google that and you’ll get plenty of hits.
Ohh I didn’t know! I’ll try that, thanks!
Rutracker is very specific in what emails it allows. Emails on my custom domain were already banned, I think they have a whitelist of email domains. I just ended up using my Gmail address, but yeah if you have a protonmail or own domain address I’m guessing you won’t have much success. You also might need to click the email validation link that ends up in spam.
Tutanota and mailbox.org work with Rutracker
I tried tutanota and didn’t. Sorry for the late reply
Finding sources for some things can be tricky and is quite a case by case situation. If you aren’t sailing much lately take a look at the megathread if you haven’t already for updated resources and tips.

Same issue with that tracker.
Well, that’s good to know… Gives me hopes the problem is not on my end
Try another tracker like 1337x or even better try to get in some private trackers. Alternatively get usenet (paid service)
How does a casual user get on private trackers or usenet.
You can start off with myanonamouse, they have applications every Wednesday and Sunday iirc. Very easy to get in, simple questions too.
I bought myself into one through donations. Sounds kinda stupid, but those 20 bucks are worth the 5 years of high availability, secure and insane fast torrenting that followed (and are still going on).
Something something IP for those who wonder.
