So I browse New to try and find new and interesting communities, but New is already flooded by bots. I’ve managed to block a few of these bots as “a person”, but one of them (Lemmit.OnlineBot), I can’t pull up their profile to block them. It just times out, every time. They are also running on their own instance, so if I can block the whole instance, that would be great. How do I do this?
If you use lemmy in a web browser, you can sort of do this using uBlock Origin’s advanced filters. I made a YSK post about it: https://lemmy.world/post/435133
You can’t. It isn’t possible right now, but from what I’ve heard they’re working on adding this feature. No indication of when they’ll add it, but it is coming.
For now, you can use Connect to block instances. It only applies when you’re using the app but it’s pretty useful regardless.
You can automatically block all users marked as bots in the web interface if I’m not mistaken
Ah, that must’ve been where I saw it. Yeah, I only used the web to sign up. Now I just use Jerboa. Thanks for the info. Imma go log in on the web real quick and kill some bots!
