I’ll be getting a used JVC L-A31 tomorrow and it comes with a replacement stylus. I suppose ill be installing it right away as I don’t know how old the one that is currently installed is. Any tips on how to make sure I don’t break the tonearm or cartridge? I only replaced the stylus and cartridge once on a very cheap record player which uses one of those 3 euros cartridges, will the procedure be similar or should I expect some further complications?

Thanks for the answer. Actually I think my post was a bit confusing, I will only be changing the stylus, do I still need to remove the cartridge for this operation as well? Or can I pull it off directly?

I’ll keep in mind your suggestion for the upgrade!

Oh sorry it should pop right off you’ll just need to replace with the factory one assuming that its the stock cartridge (and you can find one)

Awesome. Yes the previous owner is selling an unopened new stylus along with the player, I assume they bought it to have a spare one and never used it.
