Funny how these “Hate the government, not the people” folks always seem to love hating the people. Almost like being “anti-authoritarian regime” is just an excuse to hate on Asian people or something.

Yeah, it’s always “hate the government, not the people”, but if they had to nuke down China and kill billions to ensure “Taiwan is free”, they wouldn’t have second thoughts about it.

The worst thing is, it manages to trick people under said governments. Lots of folks think they can just leave for USA or Britain or Canada, and they’ll be accepted with open arms. Because it’s the ebil gubmint that those bright-eyed liberals dislike, surely?

The image that the west has managed to cultivate of being accepting of “everyone” is slowly fading though, more and more people realise that the west only wants them for cheap labour or for specialist roles western countries struggle to fill because of our rampant anti-intellectualism.

  • this line of thinking kind of falls apart when you consider the widespread public support for the central government; even if you dismiss the studies from Western institutions showing overwhelming approval, you’d need to justify why so many people come back to China after visiting other countries, etc.

it seems to usually boil down to “the Chinese people have been brainwashed”, which I’d consider a racist assertion, and rather ironic if this person is from the imperial core

The ‘dictatorship’ thing is so fucking frustrating. It’s like they’re climbing out of their tent slums and running around their broken, crumbling cities looking for a way to eat and clothe themselves for another day, and then saying that our government are unelected tyrants that don’t give a shit about us. It’s fucking pathetic. The racism happens there, where they assume we lack political agency and are too stupid to see it or do something about it, before it happens anywhere else. It’s so hard to not hate Western Liberals.

I live among them and they simply do not care what the truth is, the lives and deaths of millions are just a casual intellectual exercise to be indulged in derisive, superior tones. Utterly ignorant, utterly callous, utterly convinced of their moral and intellectual superiority despite knowing nothing and helping no one.

If you talk to an American about any other Asian it is fine, but when you just need to mention Chinese, they have a heart attack. Also they end up couldn’t tell the difference between Asian and when they attack a random Asian for thinking he is Chinese. They don’t love Asia at all, it is out of convenient to support their imperialistic cause, the only reason why everyone love South Korea and Japan was because they are both USA puppet. It to show that look guys, if you are puppet like South Korea or Japan you can be the good Asian that everyone like.

That is the problem with advancement of human rights, democracy, and rule of law in Western European diaspora in other domain. Their approaches to human rights are for good impression at the negate of actual result and they may even use their democratic slagon to mask their oppressive authoritarian advocacy in former European colonies. They justify their very slow advancement of human rights and law enforcement with their claim that social advancement is very difficult even when they claim that only authoritarian governments use this excuse.
