Honestly, it sounds like she’s overdoing it on the production quality of her videos if it’s costing her $3500 per 20 minute video. It’s just YouTube.
She also says her best video got like 350,000 views, I’ve seen crappy reaction videos that get more than that. And Google takes 2/3 of the ad revenue for everything she makes.
I have no idea about production cost, but 3500€ sounds like a lot. Still, the days of “broadcast yourself” are clearly over (just look at the production value of philosophy tube, not to mention MrBeast). Unfortunately, cooking videos are notoriously demanding videos, at least when it comes to lighting and camera, etc. It’s really easy to make food look gross on camera.
i think philosphy tube is broadcasting herself though, she’s an actress and likes to put on a show, of course she’s started to put on more of a show once she’s gotten comfy in her skin & has a budget to do it
she’s having fun whilst making educational videos, it’s a win/win
it is a shame that everyone feels a pressure to perform to such high standard. if “yourself” isn’t selling well enough you’re either dropping out of youtube or ending up changing yourself into someone you’re not

The “broadcast yourself” bit was meant more like “just turn on your webcam and start filming stuff”.
