Summary

Far-right Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene claims that Donald Trump’s recent election win validates her position as part of “mainstream America” rather than the “fringe.”

Greene, known for her controversial conspiracy theories, argued on conservative outlet Real America’s Voice that Trump’s supporters align with her beliefs.

With speculation that she might join Trump’s cabinet, Greene asserted that loyal MAGA supporters should be prioritized for roles in his administration over newcomers like RFK Jr. and Vivek Ramaswamy, emphasizing her unwavering support for Trump and his policies.

I still believe the sane people are the majority. However, they have clearly failed in their civic duties to show up to vote.

Douglas Adams seemed to think so.

“Your wife,” said Arthur, looking around, “mentioned some toothpicks.” He said it with a hunted look, as if he was worried that she might suddenly leap out from behind a door and mention them again.

Wonko the Sane laughed. It was a light easy laugh, and sounded like one he had used a lot before and was happy with.

“Ah yes,” he said, “that’s to do with the day I finally realized that the world had gone totally mad and built the Asylum to put it in, poor thing, and hoped it would get better.”

This was the point at which Arthur began to feel a little nervous again.

“Here,” said Wonko the Sane, “we are outside the Asylum.” He pointed again at the rough brickwork, the pointing, and the gutters. “Go through that door” — he pointed at the first door through which they had originally entered — “and you go into the Asylum. I’ve tried to decorate it nicely to keep the inmates happy, but there’s very little one can do. I never go in there myself. If I ever am tempted, which these days I rarely am, I simply look at the sign written over the door and I shy away.”

“That one?” said Fenchurch, pointing, rather puzzled, at a blue plaque with some instructions written on it.

“Yes. They are the words that finally turned me into the hermit I have now become. It was quite sudden. I saw them, and I knew what I had to do.”

          The sign read:

“Hold stick near center of its length. Moisten pointed end in mouth. Insert in tooth space, blunt end next to gum. Use gentle in-out motion.”

“It seemed to me,” said Wonko the Sane, “that any civilization that had so far lost its head as to need to include a set of detailed instructions for use in a package of toothpicks, was no longer a civilization in which I could live and stay sane.”

He gazed out at the Pacific again, as if daring it to rave and gibber at him, but it lay there calmly and played with the sandpipers.

“And in case it crossed your mind to wonder, as I can see how it possibly might, I am completely sane. Which is why I call myself Wonko the Sane, just to reassure people on this point. Wonko is what my mother called me when I was a kid and clumsy and knocked things over, and sane is what I am, and how,” he added, with one of his smiles that made you feel, Oh. Well that’s all right then. “I intend to remain.”

Before you read it, you should listen to the original 2 seasons of the radio series (they did more seasons after Douglas died based on later books).

The first two books were based on the radio series, although there are some differences.

But I think the two seasons of the original radio series is the best version of the story. The later seasons less so.

You can listen to it all here, but I would stop at 206.

Wow … thanks for this again … I’ve heard references to it, read articles about it but just never had time or space to read it … I’ll definitely look into this and take the time to listen and read it now … never knew much about it other than the writer and the book and the fact that he just questions and holds a mirror to society and the insanity of our supposed ‘civilized’ society.

The insanity becomes more tolerable when you can find and read the thoughts of other people who agree that this world is indeed … insane.

I used to say that in any situation on any given day, 10% of people are willing to hurt you, 10% are willing to help you, and the other 80% could go either way. I feel like I have to adjust that to 30/10/60 split now.

I’ve come to the conclusion that there is no best alternative.

Republicans are full on racist, fascist, crazy people.

Greens are all the above with the rotted veneer of liking the environment.

Libertarians are all the above plus more racist and crazy minus the environment.

Democrats are incompetent, won’t let go of being Republican-lite, and are unreliable allies like MLK warned about.

Progressives are petulant, instant gratification demanding, iPhone attention span, unreliable allies that MLK warned about.

Right now, I’m just going to go full independent and stop trying to fix any of this shit show and concentrate on just surviving and making sure my kids have an out. I’ve got no confidence in anything in this nation that isn’t better than this so fix it yourselves, I’m out.

I had hopes that enough of them would be turned off by the rhetoric and rape, but I’ve been proven wrong. Absolute zero empathy for humanity. I can only hope that these worthless people are hurt first and hurt worst by the upcoming administration.

Sure but let’s not down play how fucking god awful Democratic leadership is too.

I mean honestly, the people told them, “Hey, we’re fucking idiots and we don’t understand how the economy works and we have the memory of a goldfish and forgot that Trump tanked the economy to begin with due to a completely botched COVID response but fuck you egg prices are high and I don’t understand bird flu”

And not a single leader went and said “Hey maybe we should listen to the common worker, even if they’re a little slow, and campaign hard on that since we have actual solutions!”

Sigh, just so much stupidity everywhere but still a pox on all of those non-voters for condoning all of this racist shit in the end.
