Took a while since they first mentioned it.
Hows the situation in Germany right now? Last i checked there where plans but nothing actual changed.
The process has only started yet, the current draft:
- you are allowed to have 25 grams on you
- you can homegrow 3 female plants
- social clubs can grow more, to provide members with max 25 grams a day, max 50 grams a month
- no smoking near kindergartens and schools
- no smoking in pedestrian zones after 20:00
They still have to write a law and have that accepted by Bundestag and Bundesrat. 2024 maybe.
CDU can veto Bundesrat. Is there reason to believe they won’t?
The aim is to word the new law in a way that it doesn’t have to go through the Bundesrat. Don’t ask me how exactly that’s supposed to work tho.
Maybe they have to take the greens into coalition in the autumn election? Just kidding, very likely they will veto.

You forgot playgrounds. And it’s a zone of 200m diameter around the entrance of those places. In my hometown there are exactly 2 houses where it would be legal to smoke in front of, in a sea of prohibition.
It’s taking ages in Europe… I thought that after the US and Canada this would go very fast on this side of the pond as well, but not at all. Congrats to the grand-duchy!
I first read that as “growing old and smoking weed at home…” And thought Oh, that’s nice
