I joined lemmy.world before feddit.uk got started, but after the hassle today I’ve moved over here. Bit of a pain to re-subscribe to everything again and lose my post history, but hopefully I won’t have to do it again!

Good to have you here. There are third party tools available that will move your subscriptions over to a new account, but it’s probably too late now.

Must have missed the drama - probably for the best. A bonus of being over here.

Yeah my stupid ass had the thought process of lemmy.world being the best because it’s the biggest. I have a backup account on Kbin and I’ll mostly likely make a third account as a backup to that backup.

kbin is kind of weird, I’ve had issues replying to people on kbin. It’s not quite the same as lemmy, while both are different from Mastadon. Even though they all supposedly federate together the pieces don’t quite fit.

I mainly see the advantage being if you wanted a general community to gain a lot of subscribers as you appear in “local” and random people spot you, rather than having to seek you out.

However, it does mean that it can be slow and unstable, the “local” feed can be a real firehose of content that you don’t experience subbing in from another server and, apparently, being the largest puts a massive target on your back.
