The lemmy.world instance was just updated to version 0.18.2. The login issues that were being reported (for example, here) are now resolved.

For release notes: https://lemmy.world/post/1339018

Edit for those who still have issues logging in:

  • When using a browser: clear cookies and cache
  • When using an app: remove your lemmy.world account and add it again.

Anyone using Liftoff - if you can’t log in, or keep getting logged out, remove and re-add your account:

    Settings from top right

    Accounts

    Long press the account

    Click Remove

    Then add the account again

Fwiw, I skipped to the last step and it worked. Didn’t have to remove the account, re-adding the existing account still worked

Works on one phone, not on the second one. So weird.

I’ve found for both Liftoff and Jeroba that going to the android apps page on my phone and clearing the cache for both of them cleared up some persistent login/logout issues that removing/adding my account didn’t.

Update seems to be running pretty smooth, but (and maybe I missed it) I think it would be super awesome if you put up a banner ahead of time letting people know you are doing a maintenance or update or something at X:00 pm EST or something.

To suddenly settle down and log in to post and support the platform only to be hit with a shit ton of confusing issues, then everyone posting about the same issues, then getting an update about what happened that caused the issues after the fact is less than ideal.

Again, maybe y’all did and I missed it, but a little banner with a heads up would be…

Haha that’s great! Their tag is one of the most common all over Amsterdam. I’ve no idea if they’re a single person or a group though.

Good. These growing pains are a sign that we’re gathering steam. Best part is, with alt accounts on other fedded sites we no longer have to do something else during downtime.

Oh, so that’s what was logging me out. I cleared cookies, but it kept happening. Cheers.

Still broken for me. I’m seeing a 400 on the unread_count request after login. After the login page refreshes the page still asks me to log in again.

edit: workaround is to manually clear your cookies for the site and try again

Should it have logged folks out as a means to help resolve the login issues? I honestly couldn’t tell because when I went away before this update, I was experiencing the issue and came back to it logged out, thinking it was a continuation of the issue till I saw this post…But then it left me asking this.

I’m not now, but I was wondering if the update may have logged people out to help with that, or if that may have just been a coincidence.

Tried to login to my Lemmy app, but strangely enough it wouldn’t be able to load any posts when trying to filter on ‘subscribed’ subredd… sublemmy’s (Is that how you call it? Sorry, brand new to lemmy lol), but ‘local’ and ‘all’ works fine. Don’t know if it’s an issue with the app having to update their API or something alike.
