Me personally, I’m already bored out of my mind only by reading it, but I’ll have a look and judge after getting first-hand experience.
How do others feel about dailies, weeklies, monthlies as currency grind for reward?
KROOF is pretty thrilled about it, I’ve linked her post as an additional source for people. The prospect of a neutered battle pass without the anti-social aspects is worth mentioning.
Definitely feels like something I’ll have to get my hands on before I judge it too much. The fact that they stated there isn’t a FOMO mechanic to it is good. As someone who played the previous two WOW expansions, I hope it feels nothing like them.
WoW has a new battle pass mechanic in Dragonflight, called the ‘Trading Post’. I thought of playing DF, but I don’t feel like it anymore, though this is admittedly only part of the problem.
I think it’s gonna be good. I love the fact that you can progress towards the rewards mixing all the different “game modes” in the game. If today I want to PvP and tomorrow PvE, I’ve still progressed towards rewards.
Since the system is not designed to keep me subbed and supposedly it’s not designed to nudge me toward the gem store in a scummy way, I’m thinking it will be fine.
Sounds like reward tracks mixed in with map currency vendor, much like the pip mechanic in WvW.
Very time gated at the beginning, even for all time veterans, but then you have amassed way too much currency because you get it by doing your thing anyway. Just this time you won’t have much surplus because new stuff will keep adding on.
Not the worst neither the best reward system, pretty much in line with GW2’s nature; do your ting and save currency to buy the shinnies you actually desire.
I don’t know, we know nothing about it yet, I’ll wait and see before I judge. If they remove login rewards because of it it’ll be a bit sad but not the end of the world IMO.
No extra cost, you can mix different game modes and the rewards will stay available indefinitely, it sounds good so far.
I honestly feel like quitting the game.
I’ve played gw2 since it released, and there’s very little that excites me about the game anymore. Feels like a constant grind for gear if you don’t have legendary equipment (I don’t) and if there is something I hate, it’s gear grind. I finished the story, said my goodbyes to Aurene, and I guess I’m ready to never log in again.
What grind? Once you have ascended you’re set. Worst case you can just change the stats for a few gold if you need to for some reason.
You won’t even need a full ascended set unless you are going for T4 fractals. And that only because of this (imho stupid) agony resistance mechanic, otheriwse you would be just fine with only/mostly running exotic gear.
That’s true. I was just talking about the worst case scenario if you want BiS stats. Even then GW2 is one of the best games in that regard. I came back to the game after several years and most of my gear was perfectly usable so really not sure what seems to be the deal with that complaint.
What kind of gear are you grinding if not legendary?
With respect, I think you are perhaps doing something wrong if you are experiencing a gear grind, and are not going for legendary equipment.
Exotic gear is perfectly fine for all endgame content except tier 4 fractals and, perhaps, harvest temple CM. Exotic gear can be acquired incredibly cheaply and then you’re ready to go - if you need help, I’d be happy to advise.
It’s ok to be bored with the game after a long time, just take a break, play something else and then come back if and when you feel like it.
But the gear grind part is very confusing, except for fractals you could still be meta with exotic berserker gear from 2012 in some builds. The game could improve in many areas but gear grind doesn’t seem one of them.
Yeah, you need to spend some gold for BiS but usually even that doesn’t require any kind of group activity or grind. At most some ls currency farm if you don’t have any spares
Outside of legendary (which is purely looks and convenience) I don’t see any big farm or grind required
Feels like an amped-up version of the current map/expansion currency system we have (lookin at you, imperial favor/unbound magic/volatile magic/blood ruby/ice shards/and so on and so on…)… i’m not HYPE about it but I’m not currently opposed.
It’ll be interesting to see how it blends WvW/PvP and “login” reward choices as well
I don’t mind if they change the current system. I never understood how they could allow the multi account shenanigans, just for login rewards.
The only concern for me is that I will loose my steady income of mystic coins and clovers (from one account).
