I’ve been using it about a year now, have it synced to Nextcloud and find it rock solid. No complaints, it just does the job. It also handles html tags - for that nice splash of coloured text.

Joplin is just the best. I like the encryption function and that I can choose where to sync. I’ve tried both Nextcloud and Syncthing.

Nah, its stress to self host compared to the two other alternatives. Not self hosting at this point is a step backwards.

Oh why yes, of course. So when I’m self-hosting Nextcloud and can use Syncthing, it is stress to self-host a service I don’t need - like running the Joplin server myself.

True, but hosting Joplin server offers collab and note sharing as well if you have multiple users, so it was just a suggestion in case you need it.

I didn’t like Joplin when I had it synced via my NextCloud. Too many issues. Once I switched to a free Dropbox account… Never had an issue since. I love it

    Joplin is truly amazing.

Though, it seems you can’t custom install the desktop client to external storage or remove encryption keys on any client once they’ve been created.
