Note: I do not endorse using Google as your search engine. I actually hate that it’s an actual verb now.
Bad meme. It’s fine to poke fun at linux but this whole “basic shit won’t work and you’ll need to use terminal commands” is propaganda at this point.
Well yeah if you don’t use a hobbyist distro it will
Thefuck is this two-year old post doing in our feeds?
New comments bump threads. An intentional import from old bb-style forums.
… In hot? Isn’t that what active does?
I’m also seeing posts with zero comments. So yeah.
Welcome to the future time traveller. Jour meme is obsolete for quite some time already.
startpage 👍
Duckduckgo*
I use Startpage BTW
Use searx for google results
Not sure if funny because making fun of Linux usability or because using terminal commands is actually a feature and not a bug :p
Yeah, but for newcomers, I think this is a bit frustrating. Imagine moving from windows and then don’t know how to do basic things in Linux the way you usually do. But thanks to the community, it’s not that big a deal anymore.
Just use Linux Mint or Ubuntu, i dual-boot with windows for gaming, it’s soo good becuase i rarely have to look up a termanal command to do the most basic shit, it’s soo good i’m gonna stay with Mint forever.
*search
*Searx?
i have to use yacy to feel secure about typing into the void.
searx is good metaseach engine if you trust the person whos running it on their own hardware. it’s not that much private but it deserves some credit.
there’s also tldr and zeal.
manpages don’t really teach you how to do things. it just tells you what different switches do. although sometimes that’s a significant part. it feels like i’m reading the source code or something.Removed by mod
