Hi guys! So I use KDE Neon on most of my computers, and I’m overall very happy with it. However, I have a search problem on the start menu that really drives me nuts whenever it happens. Say I hit the menu key to open the launcher menu, and start typing to launch the app I’m looking for. For example, if I want to open Kcalc, I start typing “calc” and it correctly identifies it (I think based on description) as my first result. However as I drive my finger to hit ENTER and launch the app, the result selected jumps from the first result to some result in the middle of the list, about the 5th or so. This happens in a fraction of a second right before I hit enter, after holding for a full second on the correct result, and ends up launching a completely unrelated spreadsheet, that has “calculation” on the title. But it’s the fifth result.
I always thought maybe this happened because maybe the mouse was hovering in the wrong place and it was overly sensitive to mouse position instead of search results? But nah, I noticed that sometimes the mouse can be on a different monitor altogether, and IT STILL JUMPS AWAY on the results search. Any idea what causes this? It’s super frustrating to search something, get the correct result, and then open the wrong app.
@iturnedintoanewt I think it’s fixed in 5.27.7 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=466192
Wow great thanks! I hope to see it soon…
That really sucks. Sadly, when I looked into this a while ago because it happened on my PC, noone knew why it was happening :(
One potential workaround could be to use krunner for starting apps instead. I think it doesn’t happen there
